Prospr’s work management app has been in especially high demand amid the pandemic, when a growing number of frontline workers are demanding more flexibility, transparency and growth opportunities in their jobs.

Workforce management platform Prospr just announced it raised $3.2 million in an oversubscribed seed round. The funding was led by Bonfire Ventures.

The Prospr platform is designed for what it refers to as “deskless workers” — folks with hourly jobs who typically don’t have work email or set schedules. The company says there are 2.7 billion of these workers worldwide, accounting for 80 percent of the global workforce, and they need a solution that helps them communicate with their coworkers, manage their schedules and track their growth.

Prospr’s fully customizable app does just that, integrating well-known tools like Slack, Excel and Zendesk to help employees handle everything from scheduling to learning and development opportunities. The platform is used by major brands like Dunkin’ and New York Sports Clubs, as well as various small and medium-sized businesses. 

The app has been especially popular over the last year. The global pandemic turned work — especially in-person hourly work — upside down, and an increasing number of these frontline employees are demanding more flexibility, transparency and growth opportunities as a result. Meanwhile, Prospr says its platform has been experiencing “explosive” demand, with revenue growing 500 percent in 2021 alone.

Co-founder and CEO Erika Wasser says the app’s success thus far isn’t just because of the pandemic though, it’s also thanks to its team and collective experience in the workforce.

“We’re able to build better software for operators and employees because everyone on our team has been there. I’ve been an hourly worker. I’ve been a manager, and the owner/operator,” Wasser said in a statement. “We’re a software that powers businesses with a lot of moving parts, big goals and vulnerable workforces. The success of all parties in that ecosystem is our priority and we’re excited to keep building.”

To do this, Prospr says it plans to use this fresh funding to enhance its platform, expand its customer base and grow its team.
