“For a small and nimble company, running your infrastructure in the cloud is a must,” said Director of Infrastructure Engineering Nick Duffy. That philosophy is reflected in Axios’ tech stack, which is built entirely in the cloud using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and EKS. Engineers are able to code often and work constantly to improve deployments and systems. Currently, the team is using Flagger to set up canary deploys, which will allow Axios to progressively roll out and roll back changes as needed — improving on a testing system that Duffy is already proud of.
