Provides direct nursing care using the nursing process, including patient assessment, individualized care planning, treatment implementation, evaluation, education, and psychosocial support. WOC nurses additionally deliver advanced wound, ostomy, continence, and fistula care. The role supports quality improvement, clinical documentation, evidence-based practice, research trials, staff education, professional development, and unit leadership.

Supports clinical teams by answering and routing calls, managing communications, coordinating appointments, tests, consultations, treatments, and surgeries, and providing patient instructions. Prepares documents and reports, handles physician travel authorizations and reimbursements, and maintains physician licenses and memberships. The role requires strong communication, organization, prioritization, follow-through, judgment, and patient-focused service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Coordinates clinical research activities for cancer studies, including collecting, abstracting, entering, and validating data; supporting patient consent and study visits; maintaining databases and tracking tools; generating reports; coordinating protocols; and ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations. Collaborates with research and care teams while serving as a point of contact for assigned studies.
