Position Overview:
This position is responsible for supporting the Bank’s external and internal reporting function, e.g. SEC reports to include 10K and 10Q, and various reports filed with bank regulatory agencies. This includes reviewing drafts and checking numbers to back-up documents. Additionally, this position is expected to perform technical research on regulatory, financial accounting and reporting matters, perform work on certain complex accounting areas, liaison with representatives of external audit firm and regulatory agencies, and handling other special projects as assigned by Manager of SEC Reporting, Manager of External Reporting, or Chief Accounting Officer. The position is responsible for performing General ledger and sub-ledger proofs and reconcilements. Prepare journal entries for accruals and prepayments.
Essential Job Function:
SEC Reporting
Take part and assume responsibility for the preparation/review of sections of the periodic SEC filings (10-Qs, 10-Ks, etc.) including the preparation of detailed supporting work papers.
Produce financial statements and support for Management’s Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations (MD&A) in the 10-Q/K.
Coordinate with other departments to provide information required for disclosure purpose.
Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to SEC reporting and internal controls over financial reporting.
Understand new accounting pronouncements and implement operationally.
Other External Reporting
Preparation of financial information and reports to the Office of Finance and the FHFA. Implement enhanced reporting as specified by the FHFA.
Monitor, understand and implement FHFA regulations pertaining to financial reporting.
Work closely with the financial reporting staff of the Office of Finance.
Work with the outside auditors, FHFA examiners and Internal Auditors.
Prepare data as needed for audits and reviews.
Internal Reporting
Prepare support for investor relations and review of financial information included in the earnings release for publication of the Bank’s website information.
Prepare monthly letter and schedules for submission to Board of Directors.
Compliance
Prepare and maintain accounting records and reporting in conformity with SOX requirements, including the associated reference documentation on assigned processes and controls.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years accounting experience in a CPA firm (Big 4 preferred but not required), or minimum 4 years’ experience working in a banking environment in the United States with strong emphasis in Financial Reporting. Individual should be able to design complex spreadsheets for reporting. Individual should have had some training post-CPA in GAAP literature. Individual must have demonstrated experience in drafting business memos.
Skill:
Strong Spreadsheet skills; ability to review U.S. GAAP financial statements; ability to research, understand and translate GAAP pronouncements into the preparation of journal entries. Strong skills in preparing complex data analysis and complex reconciliations.
Requires individual to work on multiple tasks during the day. Requires individual to stay with deadlines on month-end closing process and quarterly SEC filing processes.
Willingness to be a self-starter and learn independently.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a CPA preferred.
Salary: $100,000 to $115,000
