POSITION OVERVIEW:

As our Accounting Manager – Bakeries/4-Wall, you will play a critical role in owning bakery-level accounting across locations, with responsibility for each bakery’s P&L. This role oversees the major components of bakery expenses, primarily cost of goods sold, labor, and utilities and waste. As a manager, this role will partner with operations, finance, and project teams to support decision-making and drive financial discipline across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive process, systems, and scalability improvements to support company growth, including new bakery openings.

  • Own the bakery/4-wall accounting for each bakery location, ensuring accurate, timely results, and clear variance explanations against forecast and prior periods.

  • Manage inventory and cost of goods sold, including inventory valuation, shrink/waste tracking, and margin analysis across locations.

  • Oversee bakery labor accounting — accruals, reconciliations, and reporting — in partnership with Payroll and Operations.

  • Account for utilities, waste, office expense, and other bakery-level operating costs, including accruals and vendor accrual validation.

  • Lead the multi-unit month-end close for the bakery portfolio, standardizing processes and close timelines across locations.

  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and account reconciliations and ensure the integrity of the general ledger in accordance with US GAAP.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA strongly preferred.

  • 6+ years of accounting leadership experience — ideally with a combination of public accounting and industry experience, specifically in the consumer products sector.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical application of technical accounting.

  • Experience working cross-functionally and handling multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Strong communications and presentation skills — the ability to tell a story and not just report out numbers and results.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, with tight timelines, iteration, and results-driven mindset.

  • Experience with Workday ERP and inventory management systems, a plus.

SWEET POSITION PERKS:

  • A highly visible leadership role where your work will directly impact the business.

  • Rich opportunity to shape the accounting team, set the tone, and drive discipline.

  • Competitive salary + bonus + benefits + equity.

  • A fun, entrepreneurial, and cookie-filled culture.

  • Free cookies, branded swag and so much more!
