In this role, you will play a critical part in helping our clients—ranging from major utilities and independent power producers to hyperscalers and policy makers— navigate the complexities of the energy transition. You will leverage data-driven insights to model grid performance, evaluate investment viability, and provide strategic recommendations on power market dynamics. This is an ideal opportunity for a professional looking to apply advanced quantitative skills to the most pressing challenges in the global energy sector.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Market Modeling: Develop and execute power system production cost simulations to analyze grid congestion, capacity expansion, and power price forecasting.

  • Strategic Advisory: Assist in preparing high-impact reports and presentations for executive-level clients, distilling complex economic and technical data into actionable business strategies.

  • Technical Analysis: Utilize specialized software to model the impacts of evolving regulatory policy, new data center loads, renewable integration, battery storage deployment, on grid infrastructure.

  • Data Synthesis: Perform rigorous quantitative research on energy policies, regulatory frameworks, and regional market trends to support client engagements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across GE Vernova’s industrial vertical businesses to provide support and advisory when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 0–5 years of professional experience in consulting (energy, economic, financial, or other); economic/financial modeling and analysis, or a related field.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Master’s degree (MS/MA/MBA) is preferred but not required.

  • Modeling Proficiency: Hands-on experience with production cost modeling software (ex., GE MAPS, PLEXOS, PROMOD, or similar) is highly desirable.

  • Analytical Toolkit: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience in data aggregation tools (ex., PowerBI, Tableau) is a plus; Experience with programming languages (ex., Python, R, or SQL) for data manipulation and automation is a plus.

  • Consulting Mindset: Prior experience in a consulting environment is preferred. You should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Passion for the Energy Space: A strong interest in grid modernization, decarbonization, and the economic drivers of the power sector.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis

*** Role is based in Schenectady, New York. Hybrid and remote options will be considered based on candidate background.
