This is a team where creativity meets high craft, and where designers grow by building for ambitious customers.

What you'll do

Brex is looking for a Manager, Brand Design (Growth) to join the Design team, a cross-disciplinary group of creatives including product designers, brand designers, content design, operations, and marketing strategists. Our team’s mission is to build a category-defining brand and meaningfully move key business metrics by delivering world-class creative.

Reporting into the Executive Creative Director, you’ll lead the designers responsible for Brex’s growth creative across paid social, digital marketing, email and lifecycle marketing (LCM), industry and growth marketing events, and account-based marketing (ABM) campaigns. You’ll bring exceptional brand craft to work that attracts new customers and deepens engagement, using growth experiments and creative testing to learn what works.

This is a hands-on creative leadership role for someone who leads through the work — not around it. We’re looking for a highly conceptual and craft-driven designer who remains deeply involved in execution while mentoring and guiding other designers along the way. Success in this role means influencing both the “what” and the “how”: shaping creative direction and strategy early with marketing partners, while also elevating the quality and rigor of the final output.

You’ll partner closely with producers, channel owners, and marketing leads to proactively shape briefs, prioritize workstreams, and guide projects from concept through execution. The ideal candidate is energized by building something larger than themselves, thrives in highly collaborative environments, and knows how to push creative quality while balancing business goals and team growth.

Where you’ll work
This role will be based in our San Francisco, Seattle, or New York office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require three days per week in office - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

Responsibilities

  • Lead creative direction and execution across growth campaigns, paid social, digital experiences, email and lifecycle journeys, industry and growth marketing events, and account-based marketing.
  • Manage and mentor the designers responsible for growth creative within the Brand Design team through active creative partnership, hands-on feedback, and close involvement in the work.
  • Partner directly with producers to prioritize, resource, and balance work across designers and projects.
  • Collaborate closely with growth, lifecycle, events, and account-based marketing partners to shape briefs and influence creative strategy from the earliest stages.
  • Contribute to defining the “what” alongside stakeholders — not just executing the “how.”
  • Help evolve and steward Brex’s visual identity and brand expression across channels and touchpoints.
  • Translate complex business concepts into clear, compelling, and emotionally resonant visual storytelling.
  • Maintain a high bar for craft across typography, layout, systems thinking, and visual execution.
  • Present work confidently to stakeholders and articulate creative rationale in a thoughtful and persuasive way.
  • Push creative boundaries through growth experiments and creative testing, using performance insights to guide iterations while keeping work strategically grounded and operationally effective.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in brand design within agency and/or in-house creative teams.
  • Experience leading high-impact creative work while remaining deeply hands-on in execution and craft.
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional concept-driven design work across campaigns, storytelling, brand systems, experiential, and digital experiences.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with experience coaching, mentoring, or guiding designers through the work.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and contribute strategically to creative direction and brand development.
  • High level of craft across typography, layout, visual systems, art direction, and storytelling.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative decisions and rationale.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Figma.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with AI visual creation tools (Nano Banana, Midjourney, etc.)
  • Experience with motion and animation tools (After Effects, Jitter, etc.)
  • Experience working on both B2B and B2C brands
  • Experience leading integrated campaign or experiential work across multiple channels and audiences

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $248,000 - $311,000.  However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
