Job Description

Imagine working closely with many of the world’s largest sports properties and agencies worldwide to help them better understand their fans and how to best maximize sponsorship sales and investments.

Nielsen Sports is a trusted adviser and partner in sports and entertainment intelligence, helping our clients worldwide to maximize their commercial success. With our expansive suite of products and services, Nielsen Sports is uniquely positioned to provide insights and intelligence which help drive more effective decision making for clients.

The Business Development role for Nielsen Sports will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects across media evaluation, market research, and social/digital analysis to provide valuable analytics and insights to key clients.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop and execute new business strategies to drive revenue growth across professional teams, leagues, governing bodies, rights holders, agencies, and other sports ecosystem stakeholders.
  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and discovery through solution development, proposal creation, negotiation, and contract execution, consistently achieving and exceeding revenue objectives.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key decision-makers, positioning Nielsen Sports as a trusted advisor on audience measurement, fan intelligence, sponsorship valuation, media analytics, and commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate with product, insights, consulting and client success teams to develop customized solutions that address client challenges and unlock new commercial opportunities.
  • Identify emerging industry trends, market shifts, and whitespace opportunities to inform go-to-market strategies, account planning, and market expansion efforts.
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM hygiene while contributing to sales plays, competitive intelligence, and best practices that improve overall commercial performance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in new business sales, business development, sponsorship, media, research, analytics, technology, or related commercial roles within the sports industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding revenue, pipeline generation, and account growth targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles from lead generation through contract negotiation and close.
  • Experience selling consultative solutions, data, research, analytics, sponsorship, media, or technology products to sports industry stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the sports business ecosystem, including teams, leagues, governing bodies, agencies, media partners, and rights holders.
  • Ability to translate complex data, insights, and methodologies into compelling commercial narratives and executive-level presentations.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with experience engaging senior-level decision-makers.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to identify new market opportunities.
  • Highly organized with strong project management, forecasting, and CRM discipline.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across sales, consulting, product, insights, and client success teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar sales and prospecting tools preferred.

Compensation Transparency: The posted base salary range is a reasonable estimate that  may be adjusted based on the final work location of the selected employee. Individual pay within the range is determined by factors such as experience, training, geography, certifications, and business needs.
