Check out our Intro to Hex video and employee handbook to learn more about what it’s like to work at Hex.

About the role:

Hex is helping the world’s best data teams do their best work, and as we grow, every great customer, partner and vendor relationship starts with a contract. We’re looking for a Commercial Counsel to own them, and to help make Legal one of the reasons people love working with Hex.

You’ll be at the center of the action. You’ll partner with Sales to bring on some of the most exciting companies in data and AI, help customers feel confident about how Hex takes care of their data, and work with our product and operations teams to get the vendors and AI partners behind our platform in place quickly. You’ll join a small, AI-forward legal team, report to our Head of Legal, and work closely with Legal Ops. We’ve built a strong foundation, and you’ll make it even better with every deal.

Most of your time will go to commercial work. As Hex grows, there’s plenty of room to explore more.

What you will do:

  • Own Hex’s contracts end to end, from enterprise customer deals to the vendors, AI providers and partners who help us build.

  • Keep the business moving with the everyday agreements too: NDAs, events, sponsorships and marketing partnerships.

  • Help customers say yes with confidence by explaining how Hex handles their data and AI, clearly and credibly.

  • Find the path to yes, and know where to hold firm.

  • Keep sharpening our playbooks so every deal makes the next one easier.

  • Team up with Legal Ops to put AI and automation to work, so the team can focus on the work that matters most.

  • Become a trusted go-to partner for all cross functional teams.

  • Grow your scope as Hex grows.

About You:

  • Licensed attorney, admitted in at least one US state. 7+ years of commercial contracting experience with deep B2B SaaS exposure, whether in-house at a high-growth company, at a law firm, or both.

  • You love a good negotiation and have owned complex deals on both sides of the table.

  • You know data, privacy, security and AI terms well, and you enjoy explaining them in plain language.

  • You’re excited about AI and already use it to do your best work.

  • You’re curious about how products work and love learning new things.

  • You bring great judgment and clear, practical advice, and you enjoy being a true partner to the business.

  • You build strong relationships across teams and are just as comfortable with an engineer, a marketer or a CFO as with opposing counsel.

  • You share credit freely, ask great questions, and are happy to pick up any contract, big or small. You care more about the deal landing well than about winning the argument.

  • You like building and improving things, and you thrive on a small, high-agency team.

  • Don’t check every box? Apply anyway. Great candidates come from all kinds of backgrounds, and we’d rather meet you than miss you. If this role excites you, we want to hear from you.

The salary range is $185,000 - $228,000.

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

By submitting an application the candidate consents to the use of their personal information in accordance with the Hex Privacy policy: https://learn.hex.tech/docs/trust/privacy-policy.
