Are you ready to help shape reinsurance strategy at one of the most respected names in
the industry? New York Life is seeking an accomplished reinsurance subject matter expert
to support and advance our enterprise-wide reinsurance agenda. In this high-impact
individual contributor role, you will provide deep technical and commercial expertise, help
align reinsurance activities with strategic business objectives, and drive forward critical
priorities in partnership with senior leadership.

What You'll Do
Advance the Enterprise Reinsurance Strategy
• Provide expert input on reinsurance strategy and desired outcomes to support
achievement of New York Life objectives, including assessing potential
opportunities, reinsurance structures, and execution considerations.
• Partner with key stakeholders to identify business priorities and assess reinsurance
opportunities; help develop and refine the organization's reinsurance roadmap in
alignment with business and enterprise objectives.
• Develop analyses, recommendations, and practical frameworks that support
alignment, inform decision-making, and enable efficient execution across the
enterprise.
• Support external engagement in coordination with internal stakeholders to evaluate
new business ideas, leveraging technical and commercial expertise to uncover
growth and value creation opportunities.
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders to support strategic alignment, facilitate
decision-making, and prepare materials and recommendations for senior
leadership and governance body review.
Drive Execution and Operational Excellence
• Manage new and existing reinsurance transactions and relationships in partnership
with other internal stakeholders.
• Support oversight, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of
reinsurance activities in partnership with internal stakeholders.
• Serve as a senior execution lead for reinsurance deal project management,
transaction execution, and operational implementation in partnership with internal
stakeholders to support seamless delivery. Coordinate across functions and engage
necessary partners as needed (e.g., product, finance, legal, corporate development,
IT).
• Help define and track key performance indicators in collaboration with various
business units to evaluate whether transactions support enterprise objectives and
provide recommendations for adjustments or new initiatives as needed.
• Develop and enhance technology-enabled processes, tools, and dashboards to
support efficient monitoring and reporting of reinsurance transactions and
relationships.
Serve as a Trusted Technical Advisor
• Provide deep subject matter expertise across reinsurance operations - including
administration, reporting, and ongoing monitoring of reinsurance deals and treaties
- to support accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment.
• Act as a trusted advisor and execution partner to the enterprise reinsurance leader,
helping to advance priorities, resolve issues, and drive progress across complex
initiatives.
What You'll Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, Consulting a plus or
related field; advanced credentials such as MBA, CFA, or FSA highly preferred.
• At least 8 years of hands-on experience in life/annuity reinsurance (including assetintensive reinsurance) and 12+ years in related financial roles within insurance.
• Demonstrated aptitude to leverage business acumen, interpersonal skills, market
insights, and technical expertise to foster relationships, identify new business
opportunities, and optimize reinsurance strategies.
• Deep understanding of reinsurance structures and treaties, including risk modeling,
underwriting, and regulatory considerations. More specifically, extensive experience
in US statutory and offshore regulatory frameworks.
• Expertise in reinsurance structures, risk modeling, and regulatory frameworks -
especially U.S. statutory and offshore jurisdictions.
• Strong network of industry relationships
• Demonstrated ability to influence in a matrixed or cross-functional environment,
with excellent communication skills and the ability to succinctly present complex
ideas to senior executives and governance bodies.
• Detail-oriented and collaborative problem solver able to navigate execution issues
and challenges across multiple levels of the enterprise.
• Proven ability to operate as a highly credible technical expert and independent
contributor within reinsurance or similarly complex domains.

Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $119,000-$170,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
