NYC Alliance Company LLC is seeking an experienced and visionary Design Director for the Derek Lam, 10 Crosby Brand to lead the design strategy and execution for the brands. This pivotal role is responsible for driving the creative direction, overseeing product development, and ensuring brand consistency across multiple categories. The Design Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative and trend-right collections that resonate with our target customers and achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set and execute the design vision and seasonal strategies for branded apparel lines.
- Lead and inspire design teams to develop creative, commercially viable products aligned with brand identity.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, product development, marketing, and production teams to ensure cohesive brand storytelling and effective product delivery.
- Stay abreast of market trends, consumer insights, and competitive landscape to inform design decisions.
- Oversee the creation and review of technical sketches, tech packs, and production samples to maintain high quality standards.
- Manage timelines, resources, and budgets to meet development schedules and financial objectives.
- Mentor and develop design talent, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Represent the design function in senior management presentations and strategy sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- 8+ years of apparel design experience with a focus on women's branded products.
- Proven leadership skills in guiding design teams and managing seasonal collections.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other design software.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong business acumen and ability to align design with commercial objectives.
