Position Summary

The Director of Advancement reports to and serves as a senior strategic partner for the Chief Advancement Officer, providing high-level coordination, analysis, and execution support to advance PAL’s fundraising, campaign, and Board engagement priorities.


This role is designed to strengthen organizational alignment, accountability, and momentum during a period of growth and transition. The Director works closely with the Advancement team and across functional areas to ensure that major initiatives, campaigns, and donor strategies are effectively planned, resourced, and executed.

 

The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor with strong organizational judgment, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to operate seamlessly at the intersection of strategy, governance, and execution.

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Planning & Campaign Coordination

  • Partner with the CAO to develop, execute, and monitor multi-year fundraising and campaign strategies.
  • Coordinate major campaign timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Support the development of comprehensive donor cultivation and solicitation plans.
  • Track progress toward revenue and engagement goals and recommend course corrections.

Communications Strategy

  • Support overall communications strategy and goals, driving content and execution on stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee social media strategy, website, email engagement, and a timeline of deliverables.
  • Prepare materials, briefings, and reports for the Executive Team.
  • Oversee the timeline and collateral built around PAL events, accountable for the production and send of newsletters, direct mail, and campaign materials.

Donor & Relationship Strategy

  • Support the CAO in preparing for major donor meetings, solicitations, and stewardship.
  • Conduct high-level prospect analysis and strategy development.
  • Coordinate follow-up and accountability for key donor relationships.

Organizational Alignment & Accountability

  • Lead cross-departmental coordination related to Advancement priorities.
  • Monitor execution of strategic initiatives and ensure timely completion.
  • Develop dashboards and performance reports to support data-informed decision making.
  • Support change management and continuous improvement efforts.

Special Projects & Initiatives

  • Lead high-priority initiatives as assigned by the CAO.
  • Support capital campaigns, major partnerships, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Provide analytical and operational support to complex projects.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, advancement, strategy, or executive administration.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives and campaigns.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities with discretion and professionalism.
  • High level of judgment, integrity, and collaborative leadership style.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder organizations preferred.
  • Commitment to PAL’s mission and values.
