Location

This position will be based in New York City.

Reporting

This position will report to the President, Palmetto Capital Markets.

Summary of Role 

The Director / VP will be responsible for leading capital markets activities spanning across capital raising and execution, with a primary focus on the origination, structuring, and execution of tax equity and other tax-efficient financing vehicles. This includes managing key tax equity investor, banking, and other financing  relationships, as well as overseeing the modeling work to support the advancement of the opportunities.  The Director / VP and their team will negotiate with banks and other financiers for all asset-related capital transactions for Palmetto.  The role will be a key member of the LightReach leadership team and help develop the in-house capital markets expertise and awareness across the organization.

Strategic & Tactical

  • Lead the origination, structuring, negotiation, and execution of tax equity, transactions and other tax-efficient financing vehicles with external stakeholders
  • Develop and nurture relationships with tax equity investors and identify new sources of tax equity capital
  • Oversee the development and execution of Excel financial models to support tax equity transactions and other capital funding activities
  • Execute tax equity and financing transactions from initial investor engagement through  negotiations, document review, due diligence, and closing
  • Oversee reporting associated with Palmetto Finance to key financial stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Treasury, Asset Management, and Accounting to ensure partnership and transparency on all things Palmetto Finance
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with key banks and external partners
  • Is highly attuned to customer needs and requirements, and can anticipate their needs, and provide tailored solutions to meet their objectives
  • Contribute to broader capital markets activities based on experience and business needs. Experience with debt structuring and/or tax credit origination and placement is highly valued, but not required
  • Develop junior capital markets team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; master’s or MBA a plus
  • 6+ years of experience in banking or capital markets; renewable energy and tax equity experience strongly preferred
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills with deep understanding of the macroeconomic landscape 
  • Deep experience in financial modeling and negotiating and structuring complex deals, with demonstrated experience originating, structuring, and executing tax equity transactions
  • Strong relationships with tax equity investors and a demonstrated ability to originate new sources of capital
  • Proven track record of working on complex financial transactions, collaborating closely with internal teams (Finance/Accounting, Legal etc)
  • Experience with debt structuring and/or tax credit origination and placement is preferred, but not required
  • Highly motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced customer-centric environment where priorities may change quickly
  • Collaborates seamlessly with internal teams in Finance & Accounting, Technology etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience presenting and influencing decision making at the senior leadership level
