Profound is the fastest-growing AI marketing platform, used by 15% of the Fortune 500 including Comcast, Estée Lauder, and Walmart, and innovators like Ramp, MongoDB, and Figma. It is where marketing teams do the work: research, briefs, content, campaigns, reporting, all in one place, alongside agents that carry the load with them.
Built on 2B+ real user prompts and growing, Profound’s data shows you what people ask AI and what the models say back. Profound's AI Marketer joins that data with deep context about our customers to find the opportunities worth acting on, and then puts agents to work: automating reporting, drafting content, auditing pages for readability, running competitive research. It measures what works and gets better every day.
We named this role. In April 2026, at Zero Click San Francisco, Profound introduced a new role to the marketing org: the Marketing Engineer. A marketer who went deep on building, who looks at a manual process and sees a system. Since then, marketers everywhere have told us they finally have a name for what they do, companies like Google and Figma have started hiring for it, and hundreds have been certified through Profound University. Read the Marketing Engineer manifesto, hear from practitioners on the Marketing Engineer podcast, or read our Founding Marketing Engineer's first-hand take on the role.
Now we’re building the team that brings Marketing Engineering to the world’s biggest brands and our agency and consulting partners. As a Forward Deployed Marketing Engineer, you’ll embed with customer teams, often onsite, to understand their marketing work, identify where Profound can help, and build workflows that become part of everyday delivery. You’ll combine marketing judgment with deep product knowledge to help teams produce better work and use Profound confidently.
Here's what makes this role different: shipping the build doesn't finish the job. You’ll work alongside customers on real marketing tasks - researching competitors, developing briefs, creating content and reporting on performance. You’ll help teams get useful results from Profound, improve the quality of their work and build the skills to use it independently.
What you'll do
Be forward deployed. Work alongside customer marketing teams, onsite regularly. Join planning meetings, review briefs and campaigns, and use Profound with the people doing the work.
Recommend where Profound can help. Understand the team’s priorities, how they work and what slows them down. Bring proven applications suited to their business, and identify opportunities they may not have considered.
Apply marketing judgment. Review outputs with customers for accuracy, brand voice, audience fit and usefulness. Refine the inputs and instructions until the results meet the team’s standards.
Build and refine. Design, build, and troubleshoot agents and workflows in Profound that run real marketing work, from reporting and competitive research to content drafting and page audits.
Drive adoption. Help practitioners use Profound on live projects, resolve barriers and build their confidence to use it independently. Track usage and extend successful applications to more teams.
Work with the account team. Partner with Engagement Managers on priorities, stakeholder access and delivery; Account Managers on expansion opportunities; and Agent Engineers on complex builds, integrations and reliability.
Build partner capability. Work directly with our agency and consulting partners to identify how Profound can support their teams and client services. Help them put it into practice, train their practitioners, and collaborate on shared customer engagements.
Share what works. Turn successful applications into templates, training and playbooks that customers, partners and colleagues can reuse. Bring specific customer needs and recurring product gaps back to Product.
What you're accountable for: adoption driven through use cases your customers find useful.
Who you are
We look for four things: marketing experience, builder aptitude, product depth, and customer credibility. This role is for marketers who build, not engineers who want to learn marketing.
Marketing experience. 3–6 years working in marketing or closely with marketing teams - in-house at a startup or large company, at an agency or consultancy, or in a martech solutions or consulting role. You understand marketers’ priorities, recognize strong marketing work, and have helped teams improve how they work through technology. Experience applying AI or marketing automation, or deeper industry expertise in areas like pharma, CPG or banking, is a strong plus.
Builder aptitude. You’re curious about how technology can improve marketing and willing to experiment. Technical experience isn’t required; automating a process, configuring marketing tools, building with LLMs or connecting systems is a strong plus.
Product depth. You learn new tools quickly, explore what they can do and apply them to real work. We’ll train you to become an expert in Profound. Profound University certification is a plus.
Initiative and ownership. You identify opportunities, make recommendations and follow through. You can manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities, and keep work moving without waiting for detailed instructions.
Customer credibility. You communicate clearly, lead conversations with confidence and earn trust with practitioners and senior marketing leaders. You’re comfortable working regularly on site and collaborating with customers’ internal teams, agencies and consultants.
Relevant expertise. Depth in a marketing discipline or industry—such as content, lifecycle, pharma, CPG or banking—is a plus and can help shape the customers you support.
Tools and technology. Experience with platforms such as HubSpot, Marketo, Braze, Segment or Clay is helpful. Coding skills are welcome, but neither coding nor a computer science degree is required.
