About exacare ai
exacare ai is a leading health tech company on a mission to build the AI operating system for post-acute care. Our platform turns messy, unstructured referral packets into clear clinical insights and next steps, so teams can make faster, safer placement decisions with less administrative burden. Today, exacare ai powers more than 2,000 facilities, and is growing rapidly.

We recently raised a $30M Series A led by Insight Partners, and are bringing world-class talent together to transform healthcare. If you like building, learning, and want to make a real impact, come join us!

About the Role

We’re hiring a Founder Content Marketer to work directly with Laird Russell, our co-founder and CEO, on a content program built around him.

Laird is a big part of what makes exacare ai different, and the industry already responds to him. We want to build on that with a program that puts Laird at the center, earns the trust of the people running post-acute care businesses, and over time turns that trust into new business for exacare ai. You’ll shape every video and podcast episode, guide the story through the edit, write short- and long-form content, and hold a very high bar on research, specificity, and point of view.

This is a high-leverage role on a small team. A production partner (contractor or agency) will handle filming, audio and editing, so your time goes to the thinking, the storytelling, and the words.

Who you are: You know US healthcare deeply and you’re the person who already reads everything about it. You’re an exceptional writer and storyteller who can write anything from a long-form essay to a social post. You have taste and depth, and you can tell the difference between fluff and a conversation that teaches someone something real. You’re energized by working closely with a founder who moves fast and has strong opinions.

What You'll Do

  • Shape the show: Develop episode concepts, build the guest wishlist, research guests and topics in depth, and write the question lines and talk tracks Laird records from. Every episode should have an arc, a point of view, and something the audience walks away having learned.
  • Write thought leadership: Draft long- and short-form pieces (blog posts, articles, social media posts, newsletters) that resonate with the post-acute audience and position him as the foremost thought leader in the space.
  • Hold the bar: Make sure every piece passes our editorial tests. Is this a new or differentiated perspective? Does it focus on technology and AI? Is it tied to real patient and operator outcomes? Is there a human story in it? Could a competitor easily copy it?
  • Build the brand with us: Partner with Vicky (Content & Brand) and Nick (VP of Growth & Marketing) on the program's brand, voice, editorial standards, web hub, and social media channels.
  • Partner with production: Work with the video and audio team on scripting, episode structure, clips, and quality control.
  • Be in the room: Travel with Laird to recordings and industry events, build relationships with operators and guests, and represent the program credibly in person.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: 6+ years in editorial, journalism, content, communications, or a similar role, with meaningful time spent in or around healthcare.
  • Healthcare depth: You understand how the US healthcare system works, whether through health tech, healthcare journalism, policy, or operations. You can hold your own in a conversation with a skilled nursing CEO on day one.
  • Writing and storytelling: You're as strong at a 2,000-word essay as at a LinkedIn post, and you build stories around specific people, decisions, and details.
  • Research and interview prep: You prepare like the best interviewers do. You know how to structure a conversation so it goes somewhere, and how to write the question that gets past the rehearsed answer.
  • Taste: You have strong opinions about what makes content excellent and the judgment to cut what doesn’t belong. You can point to clear examples of what “good” looks like in the healthcare industry and beyond.
  • Technical curiosity: You're interested in how AI and software actually work, from LLMs to healthcare integrations, and you can make those concepts clear and interesting to a non-technical operator.
  • Founder fluency: You've worked closely with a founder, executive, or public figure. You know how to earn their trust, give them direct feedback, and work around a demanding calendar.
  • Judgment and discretion: You're representing a CEO publicly. You know what to publish, what to hold, and when to ask.
  • AI-native workflows: You use AI tools to research faster and draft better, and you know where they fall short.

Bonus Points

  • You've worked in skilled nursing, home health, hospice, or another post-acute care setting, or written about it extensively
  • You've launched or run a podcast, newsletter, or publication from zero
  • You've ghostwritten for a founder or executive
  • You've built an audience of your own
  • You have a formal background in journalism
  • You've written video scripts and talk tracks, or produced audio or video content
  • You are comfortable with early-stage messiness and chaos
