Who We’re Looking For
Core Areas of Expertise
Provide advice and guidance to Arootah clients who seek help with their Trading needs. This will involve consulting to some of the leading Alternative Asset Managers and Family Offices in the world and sharing your experience as a Trading Assistant in helping clients to:
Develop realistic and effective monthly action plans. Identify internal and contextual roadblocks. Break apart goals into actionable steps. Devise a plan of action for each goal.
Provide the client with resources associated with implementing their action plan. Implement policies, procedures, and control measures.
Review, analyze and report on client tools and resources to ensure industry best practices.
Evaluate each client’s advancement toward goal actualization through key performance indicators (KPIs) and scoring matrices.
Maintain and share detailed and accurate records of consulting results (challenges, breakthroughs, etc.).
All aspects of the day-to-day management and oversight of dealing with the full life cycle of a trade including the proper booking, settlement, and problem resolution of any trades.
Assist Traders with pre-trade checks including confirmation of security positions, current cash balances, and available settlement locations.
Monitor existing positions and coordinate execution with Traders and Portfolio Managers.
Perform post-trade functions including confirmation and providing allocations to brokers both manually and through electronic platforms.
Work with Prime Brokers, Administrators, and Custodians to ensure settlement of trades and communicate with all counterparties to resolve any discrepancies.
Monitor FX matching and netting. Ensure timely settlement to reduce risk of interest claims. Confirm and clear eligible IRS, CDS and NDF positions.
Assist the trading desk in onboarding new counterparties, markets, or trading systems.
Track currency hedges or trading needs of other EV departments. Monitor corporate actions and provide color to portfolio managers to assist in making election decisions.
Assist with reporting under Dodd Frank and EMIR, as well as confirm compliance with local market regulations.
Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as making sure that all of the company’s own rules and regulations are followed.
Assist with other department projects and functions as needed.
What You Bring
A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong academic record.
3+ years of relevant experience at an Alternative Asset Manager, Hedge Fund, or Family Office dealing with the reconciliation and resolution of trade breaks.
Must be organized and have strong attention to detail. High level of efficiency and ability to multi-task under pressure.
Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
Demonstrated quantitative aptitude. Understanding of basic financial concepts through coursework or job experience.
Proven experience working with different asset classes in a high-volume environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of settlement practices and procedures, including familiarity with back-office custodian, brokerage and and clearing agencies.
Drive to deliver on high value projects and a roll up your sleeves attitude.
