UJA-Federation of New York is the world’s largest local philanthropy. We care for people in need and inspire the Jewish future, and we believe better insight makes us better at both. We’re hiring a Data Analyst to make our decision-making data trustworthy, well-defined, and easy to use, for the people who work with it and for the AI tools that increasingly will. You’ll partner with our internal teams to answer real questions, build the dashboards and data models they rely on, and help us build AI-assisted analytics that put insight in people’s hands faster. You’ll often start with a need that isn’t fully defined. We want someone who asks good questions, takes the lead, and explains complex things plainly.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that show what’s working, what isn’t, and where to focus next across acquisition, retention, conversion, and giving trends.
  • Build the semantic layer. Define and document core fundraising metrics, such as active donor and retention, in one governed place, so every report and AI tool gives the same answer.
  • Develop AI-assisted analytics. Prototype, test, and improve data agents and prompt-based workflows that let fundraisers ask questions of our data in plain language. Set up validation and guardrails so the answers can be trusted.
  • Analyze and advise. Find trends, spot data issues, and translate findings into recommendations for fundraising staff and leadership.
  • Automate and improve. Replace manual reporting with reliable, automated workflows, and improve how we collect and structure performance data.
  • Partner with fundraisers to understand their needs and help them use data confidently in their decisions.

            What you bring

            • 1-2+ years of experience in data analysis, BI, or analytics, ideally with fundraising, nonprofit, or financial data. (We’ll consider less experience paired with strong, demonstrable projects.)
            • Strong SQL. You can write and verify complex queries, including checking AI-generated ones.
            • Data visualization experience, preferably in PowerBI, including data modeling and DAX.
            • Hands-on experience using AI tools in your analytical work, such as LLMs for analysis or code, prompt design, or building simple agents or automations. Tell us what you’ve built or tried.
            • Good judgment about data quality. You know when a number looks wrong and how to find out why.
            • Clear communication and the ability to work with fundraisers, analysts, and leadership.

                      Bonus

                      • Salesforce experience or Salesforce data.
                      • Experience with semantic modeling, a data warehouse, or Python.

                        Education

Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, business analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

If you're passionate about data visualization and want to play a key role in transforming marketing data into impactful business insights, we'd love to hear from you! Apply today by submitting your resume and a cover letter detailing your experience with data visualization and marketing analytics.
