THE ROLE

The Global Head of Product Management will be responsible for setting product vision & strategy for all client facing and internal tools at Sotheby’s.  You will set and prioritize the product roadmap while providing strategic leadership and direction that optimizes against our customer needs and internal business imperatives,  while supporting sustainable competitive advantages and rapid growth objectives. You will bring deep and proven experience building consumer online marketplaces and demonstrated success in delivering world class digital solutions. 

As a product leader, you have experience working in large-scale, global organizations leading experienced product leaders as well as in high-growth start-ups. You have a passion for intuitive and delightful user experiences, and wish to tackle difficult product and engineering challenges in collaboration with your team and cross-functional leaders. You are data-driven, have very strong attention to detail, an ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and the stamina to drive incremental progress.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and own product vision for the next three to five years and will be passionate about shaping the future of collecting
  • Own and execute the product roadmap and deployment to market through working collaboratively with cross-functional team members to drive competitive advantage and enable significant growth
  • Set clear product vision, motivate and inspire team members and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver exceptional outcomes
  • Continuously inspire, mentor, and scale the product team while motivating product managers to deliver high-quality work
  • Help shape and define the product team’s methodology while leveraging product and industry best practices
  • Drive the product management life cycle from concept to through discovery and planning to launch of products & features and be accountable for on-budget and on-time delivery
  • Advocate for the client, whether it is a buyer or a seller.
  • Oversee and implement strong metrics around product launches and interactions on product features; establishing Key Performance Indicators to track product usage and growth
  • Identify opportunities to improve effectiveness through Agile, new working practices, collaboration and partnerships
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and delivery
  • Help recruit, interview, and generally make Sotheby’s a great home for tech talent

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Undergraduate degree in an analytical field (economics, statistics, industrial engineering or computing), MBA or Masters degree strongly preferred
  • 15+ years experience in Product or Operations leadership roles with consumer focused startups and large consumer-oriented brands with over 20 years of experience in product management and operations
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to internal stakeholders with ease and minimal technical jargon
  • Leads by doing
  • Growth minded leader who can balance near-term and long-term priorities with alacrity 
  • Have built high performing teams by mentoring, developing, and balancing retention with attracting new talent
  • Strong communicator with the ability to clearly and effectively articulate a common vision
  • Has led the organizational development and rapid growth of product functions; strong ability to identify, hire, inspire, and scale a world-class product team
  • Experience working across multiple functions and business units in collaboration with leadership across the organization
  • A hands-on approach with expertise building high traffic consumer products
  • Experience leading teams and prioritizing deliverables in a collaborative manner with the leadership team and cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive experience managing multiple work streams

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $275,000-$320,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
