At Gensler, you’ll join a highly creative, collaborative environment focused on delivering impactful solutions and design excellence.

We are seeking a Human Resources Business Partner in Gensler’s New York office to partner with studio leadership in shaping our culture and values across their studios. This is an opportunity to be part of a strategic HR team in a creative and cutting-edge environment, while being hands-on, working directly with leaders to foster our People First environment.

In this role, you will report to the People Leader and be the day-to-day contact for your studios to inform, advise and consult on the firm’s core HR programs, including employee relations, performance management, organizational design, legal compliance, staffing/productivity, mobility, and policies & procedures.

  • Use data and metrics to identify insights aligned with business priorities to support leaders in making informed and strategic business decisions and increasing team effectiveness.

  • With the Studio Directors, drive the development and execution of organizational design and change plans.

  • Partner with HR team colleagues to create, innovate, and lead HR practices and programs for both our HR community and all team members. Collaboration and partnership on annual projects and other HR initiatives is critical to our team’s success.

  • Work with HR leadership regarding compensation and rewards programs.

  • Partner with Talent Development team in rolling out development and learning programs, including our annual Professional Development (PDP) program, to ensure programs are successful and drive talent outcomes.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or commensurate experience required

  • 8-10+ years of Human Resources experience, with experience in an architecture or professional services firm preferred, and 5+ years in an HRBP role partnering with managers on full employee lifecycle as described above.

  • Strong business and HR acumen, including employee relations practices and approaches, employment law and compliance, welfare and retirement benefits, and leaves of absence programs.

  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity within a heavily matrixed, dynamic, and fast-paced environment, including experience with change management programs.

  • Strategic problem solver with ability to work independently, navigate and maintain productivity, and to exercise sound judgement and decision making in a matrix environment.

  • Ability to persuade and influence leadership on people matters, with strong communication (written, verbal and presentation), coaching and consulting skills.

  • Advanced MS Office proficiency required, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Workday a plus.

  • Ability to combine hard, numerical data (the "what") with subjective, contextual, and behavioral insights (the "why") to drive strategic people decisions.

  • A client service-oriented team player who easily connects with our studio leaders/team members and collaborates seamlessly across the HR team.
