About the Role
Common is seeking a Director of People Operations. This person will be a thought partner to the CEO and leadership team, developing strategies that improve employee recruitment, retention and performance management. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources, and be comfortable in an evolving, fast-paced startup environment. This is an opportunity for a forward-thinking leader to help build a foundation that supports an incredibly diverse team, from software engineers to interior designers to sales executives, based in multiple cities.
Responsibilities
- Build and lead an HR organization
- Oversee company hiring, onboarding, benefits and retention programs
- Manage an office operations team to support employees in our NY and remote offices
- Collaborate with managers to implement a performance management system
- Train hiring managers on best practices for recruiting talent
- Ensure teams are receiving the support they need to achieve their goals
- Develop formal and informal strategies to train managers and help employees reach their professional development goals
- Manage the relationship with our PEO
- Create, communicate and administer company policies
- The position is based in our NYC office
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in HR or People Operations
- Incredible communicator who is able to build relationships with and influence a diverse group of executives
- Detail-oriented and comfortable supporting ideas with both qualitative and analytical reasoning
- A continuous learner who enjoys researching, testing and implementing best practices
- Able to prioritize, organize and manage a team against near and long-term goals
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment a plus
