OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks a product manager to join its Human Capital Product Management team to assist with the development and implementation of a redesigned systems infrastructure. This team manages the technology that optimizes human capital processes and enables the firm to recruit and support our talented staff.  

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
The product manager will liaise between users and software developers to conceptualize solutions that expand and improve human capital systems. You’ll be responsible for understanding business needs, specifying technical requirements, prioritizing product roadmaps, and providing support for existing applications. This dynamic position offers an opportunity to play a significant role in developing innovative, data-oriented products that enable us to anticipate the future talent needs for the firm. Ample opportunities will be provided to partner closely with leaders in human capital, business operations, information technology, and our international software development teams.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
•    Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher and three to five years of relevant work experience.
•    The abilities to self-start, dive into details, and manage projects to completion are critical for this role.
•    Applicants with a knack for solving open-ended problems and seeing how small details interrelate to impact the bigger picture (i.e., systems thinking) will excel in this role.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, an aptitude for translating the needs of non-technical systems users into technical requirements, and the judgment to exercise extreme discretion with confidential information are also essential.
