Key Responsibilities
- High Voltage Substation Lead Primary Design Engineer responsible for whole Substation Design including General Layout, Sections, HV cable routing, Civil Work.
- Guide drawings, earthing calculation…etc., with maximize efficiency and accessibility for maintenance and operation.
- Develop equipment bill of quantities (BOQ) and contribute to technical specifications and data sheets
- Selection for HV substation components, not only include transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and associated equipment, but also conductors, clamp, insulators and other necessary material for the overall integration, based on project requirements and specifications.
- Compliance with updated regulation/standards.
- Collaborate closely with Protection, Control & Automation (PCA) Engineers to ensure primary/secondary system integration
- Coordinate with Civil/Structural Engineers on foundation design, cable trenches, equipment plinths, and building requirements
- Interface with MEP Engineers for auxiliary systems including HVAC, lighting, fire suppression, and drainage.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams, clients, and third-party stakeholders on primary design matters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college from Mechanical/Electrical or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in the related activity/discipline in project & EPC type environment / HV substations and energy sector.
- Up to 20% travel within MEA & Europe along with other countries/regions for short or medium period based on requirement.
- Strong oral and written in English.
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of Project organization and engineering processes related to his/her scope of activity
- Experience with AutoCAD software. Revit, BIM360 and ACC is a plus.
- Discipline Design reviews & Gate reviews plan formalized and followed, to ensure the integration into the overall substation design.
- ROR integrates design part and Mitigation plan formalized and actions status identified (not started, ongoing, closed.)
- Provide technical support to customers and project teams.
- Initiate & support the procurement of equipment.
- Compliance with Quality processes and procedures and GE policies and procedures.
- Experience in technical problem solving.
- Discipline provisional document list prepared and aligned with project time Schedule with achievable task duration
- Full set KPI’s followed on monthly base
- Design management tools strictly followed, and submission of coherent data
- Design change process in place
- Manage engineering subcontractors on specific work packages
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
