So what are we looking for in new team members? At Scribd, Inc., we hire for “GRIT.” Traditionally defined as the intersection of passion and perseverance toward long-term goals, GRIT reflects the mindset we expect from every employee. For us, it also serves as a practical framework for how we work: setting and achieving Goals, delivering Results within your role, contributing Innovative ideas and solutions, and strengthening the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

This posting reflects an approved, open position within the organization.

About the role

Everand is our subscription app for audiobooks and ebooks. Fable, Everand's sister app, is a social reading community where millions of readers track what they read and talk about books. Together they give us the readers, the catalog, and the community to build the best place to read and listen.

We're hiring a Lead Product Manager to own the Everand app. You'll set its long-term vision, own the experience across every surface, and lead execution from strategy to launch. The goal is an app readers love, where they choose their next book and keep coming back.

We have a loyal base of readers, and millions more people who love books haven't found a product like ours yet. You'll shape how Everand reaches them.

What you'll do
  • Understand Everand's readers deeply: what motivates them, why they stay, and why they leave. Use that understanding in every decision.

  • Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the app on iOS and Android, and own the reader experience on every surface, from first open to their next book.

  • Lead a squad of engineers, designers, researchers, and analysts, and own execution: set goals, make trade-offs, and ship well-made work on time.

  • Keep the reader experience human, grounded in readers' taste and the pleasure of reading. Work as an AI-native PM, using AI to speed up research, prototyping, analysis, and building, and bringing it into the product where it helps readers.

  • Decide where to invest by finding the biggest opportunities to make Everand more valuable, for current readers and for readers we don't reach yet.

  • Manage a balanced portfolio of long-term bets and near-term improvements. Test ideas with readers early, and measure success by how their behavior changes.

  • Hold a high bar for app quality, performance, and reliability.

  • Partner with product, engineering, content, and marketing teams to give readers a consistent experience.

  • Bring your squad, partner teams, and leadership along on your strategy, and change it as you learn.

What you bring
  • 7+ years of product management experience on consumer products, including 3+ years owning a consumer native mobile app used by hundreds of thousands of people or more.

  • You are obsessed with consumer apps and study how they work. You can explain what makes the best ones good, and it shows in your product decisions.

  • You understand your audience by what motivates them, and you can point to decisions you changed after time with users.

  • A track record of moving an outcome metric you owned, such as retention, engagement, or conversion.

  • Experience leading product through a major change, such as a platform rebuild, a redesign, or a move into a new audience.

  • Product craft. You work with design from the start, and you've shipped consumer experiences people come back to.

  • You're AI-native. AI is part of how you work every day, and you have a point of view on where it makes a consumer product better for people and where a human touch matters more.

  • Experience with A/B testing and research. You set clear metrics and guardrails, and you know when to rely on qualitative research or judgment instead.

  • Comfort with technical trade-offs, including performance, reliability, and recommendation or personalization systems.

  • Influence without authority across product, engineering, marketing, and leadership.

  • Clear writing and prioritization. You can make the case for a bet and for what you'll leave out.

  • You love books and reading.

Nice to have
  • Experience with subscription businesses: trials, plans, retention, and churn.

  • Experience with audio, video, podcast, or reading apps, including players and offline use.

  • Experience shipping discovery surfaces such as home, browse, search, or personalized feeds.

  • Experience with community or social features in a consumer product.

What success looks like
  • Readers stay longer, engage more, and recommend Everand to others.

  • Readers decide what to read next inside Everand more often.

  • The app is known for its quality.

  • Your squad ships and learns quickly, with a strategy partner teams understand and support.
