ABOUT AARU

Aaru operates at the frontier of predictive intelligence, using AI to simulate and predict human behavior at scale. By generating and deploying instances of artificial intelligence that mirror humans, called agents, Aaru simulates entire populations with unprecedented accuracy. Our partners use Aaru to refine strategic positioning, identify and understand high-value audiences, validate concepts and messaging before launch, optimize pricing decisions, and build a continuously richer understanding of their customers through simulation. We provide organizations with invaluable foresight, empowering them to anticipate outcomes and proactively make the right decisions at the right time, every time.

We're a small, dedicated, mission-driven team and we intend to stay that way. We believe the best work happens when exceptionally talented people are given ownership, trust and the space to operate without bureaucratic friction. We work with urgency and intellectual honesty and expect new team members to match our velocity. We seek individuals who thrive at the frontier, who push beyond conventional limits, who bring curiosity and conviction in equal measure, and who want their work to have demonstrable impact in the world. If you're energized by the idea of a small team doing things that feel impossible, let’s build together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

AI simulations are emerging as a core instrument of legal strategy, expanding legal judgment into the counterfactual by modeling the responses of courts, juries, regulators, counterparties, and the public under alternative scenarios.

As a Legal Engineer (Litigation / Regulatory), you'll lead Aaru's work bringing predictive technology and decision dominance to high-stakes litigation. Law firms partner with Aaru to add a new layer of strategic foresight to their most consequential cases, pressure-testing strategy, positions and arguments before they ever reach a courtroom. Beyond individual matters, you'll work with firm leadership on the firm itself: aligning brand strategy and messaging, and refining how the firm operates and goes to market.

You'll own these engagements end to end. That means turning a litigation team's questions into rigorous simulations, delivering findings to the lawyers leading the case, and growing each engagement into a long-term relationship with the firm. The role is built for a litigator who has left practice, or is ready to, and wants to be at the forefront of how simulations reshape the way cases are prepared and won. You'll work closely with Aaru's founders to serve a growing roster of law firms, using the most exciting predictive technology since the astrolabe.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own law firm relationships end to end, from scoping through deployment and long-term collaboration

  • Represent Aaru in senior-level client settings — with partners, practice group leaders, and law firm leadership — with the presence and polish to make every interaction land

  • Execute complex, high-quality deliverables independently and at speed, translating rough direction into client-ready outputs

  • Partner with litigation teams to translate case strategy into simulation designs

  • Present findings directly to partners, practice group leaders, and firm leadership with the credibility of someone who knows how lawyers think

  • Work with firm executives to align brand strategy and messaging, and to sharpen how the firm operates and goes to market

  • Coordinate across engineering, product, and commercial teams to keep deployments on track, and bring what you learn from lawyers back into the product

  • Identify and scope new opportunities, both within the firms you serve and across the legal market

YOU MAY BE A FIT IF
  • You have a JD and 3+ years as a litigator at a top law firm in commercial litigation, mass torts, white-collar, or similar complex litigation, and you've taken real responsibility on matters

  • Have experience bringing technology into legal practice, whether at a legal tech company or through innovation, knowledge management, or AI initiatives within a firm

  • You've seen how complex cases are built, and you're drawn to the strategic questions

  • You're self-directed in ambiguity — you can shape an unclear ask into a crisp workstream, flag issues early, and deliver without hand-holding

  • You have strong analytical skills and can work rigorously with quantitative information and communicate findings clearly in writing and in person

  • You're excited to work fully in-person in NYC and bring genuine curiosity about AI and how it will change legal practice

STRONG CANDIDATES MAY ALSO
  • Have been close to trial preparation, whether mock trials, focus groups, jury research, or work with trial consultants

  • Have a background in traditional market research and consumer insights (e.g., survey design, focus groups, quantitative/qualitative analysis, syndicated data sources) with a strong foundation in translating research findings into actionable business recommendations

  • Have proficiency or familiarity with AI tools and complex software

  • Have managed matters or projects that run across long timescales

  • Speak multiple languages
