About the company
Our client is a fast-growing legal technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take on a varied set of contentious matters as the first attorney hired on a small team, carrying each case from the first client contact through to resolution. The work pairs hands-on case management with direct client dialogue and regular input on the internal software the team uses.
What you'll do
- Manage litigation matters independently, from initial client intake through discovery, depositions and settlement.
- Handle both defense and plaintiff-side matters across different practice areas.
- Front the conversations with prospective clients that open new cases and earn their confidence.
- Use the firm's internal legal software and share product feedback with engineers.
- Learn unfamiliar case types quickly as the practice takes on new kinds of work.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- Several years of contentious case work, preferably gained at a smaller or plaintiff-oriented practice rather than solely at a large firm.
- Hands-on experience speaking with clients directly, such as running intake calls, handling engagement paperwork or discussing strategy.
- Bar admission in at least one U.S. state, with New York preferred.
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Skill at walking people without legal training through a plan and bringing engagements to a signed close.
- Able to run a matter end-to-end and work independently across different case types.
- Willingness to adopt AI-driven software in day-to-day legal work, plus real curiosity about startups and emerging technology.
- Based in New York and willing to work in person five days per week.
Bonus points
- Background in employment-side plaintiff matters, consumer protection cases or large group claims.
- Experience at a startup, legal aid organization or non-traditional legal setting.

- Base salary: $140K to $180K
- Equity
- Performance bonus
- Flexible working hours
Location and work model
- New York, NY, United States
- On-site, in person five days per week
