Situation Group, a global collective of digital-first advertising agencies and an award-winning nonprofit, seeks a Manager, Human Resources to oversee all day-to-day administration and operations for the agency’s human resources function. This role will report to the VP, Human Resources and be responsible for routine employee relations inquiries, policy administration, payroll, benefits administration, new hire offers/orientations, compliance, recordkeeping, and people-related process improvement. The selected candidate will have four or more years of HR experience, including significant experience with payroll and benefits administration.

What You’ll Do

Working closely with the VP, Human Resources, the incumbent will be a key part of HR service delivery within the agency, serving as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day HR issues, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, onboarding, employee activities/events, and more.

Our office is located in midtown Manhattan and we are currently working in-office three days per week.

Sample Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Overall management and administration of HRIS (Paycom), including bi-weekly payroll, employee updates, integrations/feeds, reporting, and implementing new features. Oversee day-to-day handling of employee-related inquiries for payroll, benefits, time off/accruals, transit benefits, and timesheets.
  • Administer full package of employee benefits. Liaise with brokers to troubleshoot issues, coverage questions, claims, and billing. Partner with VP of Human Resources to annually benchmark, modify, and enhance employee benefits offerings.
  • Work with hiring managers to compose, review, and deliver new candidate job offers; conduct candidate offer calls with hiring managers.
  • Conduct new hire orientations. Oversee the full onboarding and orientation process to include training, compliance, Situation Connects program, and other onboarding tasks.
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc reporting related to internal and external requests, annual compliance filings, EEO, and more.
  • Ensure the agency is fully compliant with FMLA, Paid Parental Leave laws, pay transparency, and other key legislation. Stay current on all state and federal employment law changes that will impact operations. Keep VP of Human Resources apprised of new developments that will need attention.
  • Serve as a first line support resource on routine employee relations issues for an employee population of 125-150, including performance management, compensation concerns, compliance, policy, and other areas; escalate complex issues to VP, Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of HR-related experience, preferably in a generalist role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including high level of empathy and awareness
  • Experience working with Employer of Record services or PEO
  • HRIS/payroll experience required; Paycom experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace apps, such as Drive, Docs, Sheets and Calendars
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, both federal and local
  • Intrinsically motivated to produce timely and accurate, high quality work. Must be able to identify issues and proactively research/advocate for solutions with minimal guidance
