About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Merchant Services Sales Director to lead the team of Merchant Sales Consultants (MSCs) focused on Corporate Banking customers. Merchant Services specializes in providing card acceptance solutions, including core merchant processing, gateways, fraud management and invoice presentment to businesses of all sizes. Wells Fargo is nationally recognized for its ingenuity and reputation as a leader in the electronics payments industry.
The Merchant Services Sales Director will be responsible for the leadership and management of a sales team which includes managing sales professionals, partnering with bank leadership, executing on sales routines, driving merchant services sales with existing banking customers; and managing recruitment, training, and motivation of a sales team.

In this role, you will:
  • Build, manage and develop a team of industry-aligned sales professionals with focus on delivering highly complex merchant services solutions to enterprise merchants, through close partnership with Corporate Bankers.
  • Develop and execute long-term go-to-market strategies that expand market reach, accelerate merchant acquisition, and strengthen Wells Fargo's position within the payments ecosystem.
  • Own business performance across the Corporate Banking merchant sales organization, with accountability for client acquisition, banker engagement, portfolio growth, revenue generation, profitability, and execution against strategic objectives.
  • Lead a team of industry-focused sales professionals to enhance market position through the build out of industry-specific marketing materials, partnerships, relationships with key vendors, conference participation and speaking engagements.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership by identifying emerging payment trends, industry partnerships, competitive threats, and ecosystem opportunities that inform business strategy and investment priorities.
  • Lead transformation initiatives that enhance partner onboarding, channel effectiveness, operational efficiency, and organizational scalability while navigating evolving market, competitive, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Champion a data-driven sales culture through disciplined management routines, partner performance analytics, forecasting, pipeline governance, and strategic resource allocation.
  • Manage the allocation of people and financial resources to maximize partner channel performance, support growth objectives, and deliver targeted business outcomes.
  • Build and develop a diverse, high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous talent development.
  • Influence executive leadership to shape channel strategy, prioritize investments, resolve complex organizational challenges, and deliver sustainable growth through indirect sales and strategic partnerships.
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of Merchant Services Sales experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

  • Significant experience leading Merchant Services sales organizations within Corporate Banking, with a strong understanding of treasury, payments, and integrated client solutions.
  • Demonstrated success developing and growing relationships with large enterprise clients, delivering complex payment, treasury, and technology solutions that drive revenue growth and client retention.
  • Proven ability to build high-performing sales teams through disciplined execution, sales governance, performance management, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Track record of leading teams through large-scale business transformation, including organizational change, process optimization, technology adoption, and go-to-market strategy evolution.
  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge, and advise senior leaders, while delivering compelling presentations and strategic recommendations to executive audiences.
  • Strong leadership experience managing geographically dispersed teams, fostering collaboration, engagement, and high performance across diverse markets and organizational structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships across Sales, Product, Operations, Risk, Technology, and Executive Leadership, effectively navigating complex stakeholder environments and driving alignment toward business objectives.
  • Skilled at facilitating high-impact discussions, resolving conflict, negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes, and influencing decisions in matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling capabilities, with the ability to translate complex payments, financial, operational, and strategic concepts into clear, actionable insights for audiences ranging from frontline teams to executive leadership.
  • Strategic mindset with a proven ability to balance client needs, market opportunities, risk considerations, and organizational priorities to drive sustainable business growth and market expansion.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
