Job Description

*ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES*
Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform a wide range of complicated, detail-oriented tasks for the Manhattan Special Events and Permit Office.
- Work closely with parks managers and supervisors to facilitate events. Communicate maintenance needs to managers and field staff and update field status and equipment inventory as needed.
- Serve as a liaison with community groups, local organizations and schools. Work with schools, youth groups and adult leagues to identify appropriate field/court sites.
- Review and process 8,000+ ballfield permit applications annually. Ensure appropriate fees are collected in a timely manner.
- Conduct field inspections on evenings and weekends.
- Prepare reports for the Director of Citywide Athletic Permits, Operation Chiefs and Borough Commissioner.
- Coordinate the permitting of all fields and courts for the borough of Manhattan.
- Coordinate the training, distribution and inspection of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) machines for permit holders.
- Prepare all correspondence related to ballfield requests, and 311 complaints, and assist with filming and photography requests. Respond to all customer service inquiries.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
