The Department: Program Management Office

At Gemini, Program Managers (PgMs) leverage a process-driven approach to actualize Leadership’s business objectives, applying their resourcefulness and ability to tackle complex projects to the unique and exciting challenges of the digital asset industry. As experts in cross-functional collaboration, they set up our cross-functional teams for success by building scalable programs that support Gemini’s technical vision.

The Role: Manager, Program Management 

At Gemini, managers are critical to the continued development of the company and individuals within the organization. Managers are responsible for building great teams through setting team and individual goals, with clear expectations. Managers are able to coach, guide, and effectively solve problems for their team and the organization. 

As a manager in the PMO, you will lead a team of Program Managers (PgM) and Project Managers (PjM) who will manage the execution and success of multiple programs that are critical to the growth of Gemini's customer base. This includes programs such as Marketing Technology, Acquisition & Onboarding, and Customer Retention. 

In addition to the manager responsibilities, you will work closely with Product and Engineering to support the planning and rollout of new features on the Gemini exchange through agile methodologies. You will support at least one Product vertical and manage the day-to-day activities involved with running a high performing engineering team to execute on the product roadmap.

Responsibilities:

Manager

  • Define team objectives for the programs within your portfolio ensuring strategic alignment with Gemini top priorities.
  • Hire, mentor and develop PgM/PjMs to have a positive impact on the organization and help them develop a fulfilling career path.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify and fulfill opportunities in which PMO can drive product excellence, scale and efficiency across Product and its stakeholders.
  • Monitor your team’s program status and rapidly identify issues / risks. Communicate issues to relevant partners and proactively collaborate to ensure timely resolution. 
  • Serve as an escalation point and risk mitigator for your team by resolving blockers. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders supporting your portfolio (ie. Product, Engineering, Design, Customer Service, Compliance, Marketing, etc.).

Program Management

  • Creates, executes, and revises timelines as appropriate to ensure projects are completed according to the team’s planned roadmap.
  • Develops detailed project plans for cross-functional projects, where applicable.
  • Track milestones and tasks in JIRA.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new features are go-to-market ready (i.e. interface with internal teams such as Engineering, QA, Risk, and Security). 
  • Be the main point of contact for a set of projects, as defined by the product roadmap.
  • Identify and remove impediments that block the team’s ability to meet project deadlines by facilitating team discussion.
  • Effectively disseminates relevant project information throughout the organization.
  • Facilitates project-related team meetings (i.e. kick-offs, standups, sprint planning, grooming).
  • Run retrospectives when projects are completed, sharing lessons learned, and collaborating with teams to address learnings for future projects.
  • Empower the team to make system and process improvements captured in sprint retrospective meetings.

Qualifications:

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university 
  • 3+ years of managerial experience overseeing relevant program management teams at a technology company 
  • 6+ years of experience in software project management and managing development teams through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to build strong working relationships by bridging technical and non-technical teams across the company
  • Solid organizational skills and uncompromising attention to detail
  • Experience in fast paced, start-up environments
  • Experience with project management software and agile methodologies
