Recruiting LeadAbout Duet

Duet is proving that nurse-practitioner-led care isn't just more accessible, it's better. We help NPs build and scale independent practices in communities too often overlooked by the health system: rural towns, immigrant populations, LGBTQ+ patients, and more. Backed by AI-driven tools that give independent NPs the backing of a much bigger system, our network of 100+ practices covering 400,000 annual visits has driven a 30% increase in preventative visits and a 35% drop in hospitalizations, the clearest sign yet that localized NP-led care means better outcomes.

We're a well-funded, early-stage company led by seasoned entrepreneurs and nurse practitioners, and backed by investors including Lerer Hippeau and Kairos.

Why Duet, Why Now

Independent primary care is disappearing, swallowed by hospital systems and private equity roll-ups, often pulling out of the communities that need it most. But 31 states now support autonomous NP practice, and the results back up what we've long believed. We built the first value-based care contracts for NPs with major payors, taking on real financial risk for outcomes. In our anchor market in New Hampshire, our network outperformed the state on total cost of care by 19%, proof that a solo NP in an underserved area can outperform a system ten times their size and get rewarded for it.

About the Role

We’re hiring Duet’s first full-time recruiter. This is a foundational role at a company growing fast: you’ll build and run the systems that bring great people in and set them up to succeed, and you’ll have real ownership over how our recruiting function takes shape.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and work side by side with the COO, Head of Strategy, and other senior leaders. You’ll have a seat at the table and a direct line to the people making the biggest decisions about where Duet is headed. You’ll own end-to-end recruiting across every function and support a handful of core people operations tasks as we scale. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to do real work, not manage a team that does it (at least not yet).

What Makes This Role Different

  • You’re the first. There’s no playbook to inherit and no legacy process to untangle. You’ll decide how we source, interview, and close, and you’ll build it right from the start.

  • You own how the team scales. As Duet grows, you’ll decide when and how to expand the recruiting team, including whether to add recruiters, coordinators, or external partners, and what the structure looks like.

  • You own talent and employer branding. You’ll define how Duet shows up to candidates and the broader market, from our careers presence and messaging to the stories we tell about our culture and mission.

  • You’ll be visible. You’ll represent Duet at conferences, industry events, and recruiting communities, building relationships that give us a long-term talent advantage.

  • You’ll have senior access. Direct collaboration with the CEO and executive team means your work is seen, valued, and shapes company strategy.

What You’ll Do

Recruiting

  • Own full-cycle recruiting across all functions: clinical, operations, business development, technology, and everything in between

  • Design and own our talent acquisition strategy, including how the recruiting team scales alongside the company

  • Lead talent and employer branding strategy, including careers site, messaging, content, and candidate-facing materials

  • Attend and represent Duet at conferences, industry events, and recruiting forums to build our pipeline and presence

  • Partner with hiring managers and senior leaders to define roles, build pipelines, and close strong candidates quickly

  • Manage our ATS and keep hiring data clean, accurate, and useful, and use it to report on hiring progress to leadership

  • Coordinate external search partners for senior or specialized searches when needed

  • Represent Duet’s brand and values at every touchpoint of the candidate experience

People Operations

  • Manage our PEO, including onboarding new hires, so everyone starts strong

  • Own day-to-day HR processes: PTO, leaves, employee relations, policy questions, and compliance

  • Maintain accurate records in our HRIS and ensure we’re running clean processes as we scale

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years in recruiting, ideally at a high-growth startup, with some exposure to people operations or HR generalist work

  • You’ve done it all: sourced candidates, closed offers, run onboarding, and handled the occasional HR question

  • Comfortable building from scratch and making decisions without a playbook

  • Strategic enough to shape employer brand and team structure, and hands-on enough to execute day to day

  • Strong executor: you don’t wait to be told what to do, and you follow through

  • Organized and detail-oriented without being slow; you can manage competing priorities without dropping things

  • Clear, direct communicator who earns trust with candidates, employees, and senior leaders alike

  • Someone who wants to grow: this role will expand as Duet does, and we want someone who’s excited about that

Compensation & Location

The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 plus bonus and equity. This role is hybrid in NYC.
