Job Description

You'll be the organizational backbone for our Regional Superintendents of Instruction in NYC, managing the countless details that allow school leaders to focus on what matters most—supporting teachers and students. In this role, you'll coordinate schedules, manage projects, and facilitate communication across our regional schools, ensuring that initiatives like professional development, collaborative scoring, and leadership meetings run smoothly. You'll work directly with school principals and regional teams, building relationships and solving problems that help our schools succeed. Duties & Responsibilities

Communications & Writing Support

  • Draft and edit emails, presentations, and written communications on behalf of Regional Superintendents of Instruction
  • Prepare materials, agendas, notes, and follow-up communication for leadership meetings
  • Serve as a reliable point of coordination across teams, ensuring information is clear and shared effectively

Scheduling, Travel & Logistics Coordination

  • Manage and coordinate the weekly schedule and calendar for Regional Superintendents of Instruction, arranging both in-person and virtual meetings
  • Coordinate scheduling, travel, and meeting logistics for regional leaders
  • Support expense management, reimbursement, and additional administrative processes as needed

Project & Event Management

  • Lead and manage regional instructional projects and initiatives that support school and regional leadership—including collaborative scoring, professional development, and regional summits
  • Support the coordination, setup, logistics, and execution of major events, retreats, and trainings
  • Manage timelines, action items, and deliverables to ensure projects stay on track and aligned to priorities
  • Track deliverables and next steps while helping maintain accountability across principals

Regional Leadership Support & Relationship Building

  • Plan and coordinate recurring regional principal meetings
  • Build strong working relationships with school-based and regional teams
  • Support regional leaders in their work with schools across the network

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1–2 years of relevant work experience (directly relevant experience in administrative support, operations, or project coordination roles, or transferable experience in program coordination, administrative roles, or related fields)
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong judgment and follow-through when managing projects, logistics, and operational processes
  • Growth mindset with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity, including standing or walking for extended periods, setting up materials or equipment, and carrying objects up to 40 pounds when supporting events or meetings
  • Ability to travel to Uncommon Schools across NYC and the region

Preferred

  • Experience in a school, nonprofit, or mission-driven organization
  • Experience supporting leadership teams or managing multiple stakeholder relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $22.50/hr to $26.44/hr. 

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements you will likely receive an offer of $23/hr.
