Director of Sales - Commercial at Native
Ok, so you’re awesome.
You love what you do, but man is it time for you to do it your own way. You’ve run SaaS sales and marketing operations for other people for years. You can sell tech products to Fortune 500 companies with one hand behind your back - and to CPG and retail companies blindfolded.
You know that world inside out, and you know how it could be done better. Now you want a chance to do it your way. You want to build your own team, set your own strategy, make your own mistakes, and achieve the results that you know are possible.
You don’t want a job that just pays the bills: you want a job to get out of bed for. You take more enjoyment from solving problems than your friends think is normal. And you want to keep living in New York, but you certainly wouldn’t say no to a chance to travel. (A lot.)
Turns out we’re pretty cool too.
Oh hey there... We’re Native. Hi. We think the world would be a nicer place to be if everyone could afford to buy incredible, in-person, real-time research conducted anywhere in the world. So we’re making it happen. We got our first investment last year, and we’re already conducting research in 42 countries and 18 languages (we just added Lusoga yesterday) at costs way lower than anyone else can offer.
We want to be the fastest, cheapest, most reliable source of in-person research in the world. We’re making it possible by taking the business model and operations approach of Uber, and matching it to our founder’s real-world experience of on-ground research in conflict zones and emerging markets.
We’re selling to Fortune 500 companies, government departments and international NGOs at the moment. We aim to start selling to small businesses and the public later next year.
We’re a bit too young to have established values just yet, but if we did they would look a little something like this:
- Computer says yes
- Perfect is the enemy of done
- Play nice with the other children
- If in doubt, get on a plane
We should meet.
We’re looking for our forever hire. It sounds like you could be the one. If you are, we want you to start at Director level, and head on up the ladder as the company grows.
Here’s the job.
Working alongside you will be people responsible for product development, client research, solution engineering and client services. You just need to market and sell for all you’re worth.
This is what you need to do:
- Maximize Native’s private sector sales
- Set Native’s private sector sales strategy & marketing strategy
- Build commercial sales ops to accelerate & improve sales execution
- Take leadership for selling to retail & FMCG companies
How to apply.
Nothing is more important to us than our people. So this is going to take a while. We want to know who you are, how well you’ll fit with the team, and how far you’ll challenge us too. It’s also really important to us that you get to make an informed decision about whether you want to spend the next few years with us.
We’ll be reviewing applications every two weeks. There is no set deadline: we’re going to continue until we find the right person. That could happen at any point, so we recommend you don’t delay.
Here are the stages of application. Successful candidates at each stage will be invited to the next stage.
- Fill out our application form.
- Have a chat with us on a 15 minute Zoom video call.
- Receive a brief from us on a set of strategic and tactical tasks.
- Come into the office, meet someone from our team, then go for coffee and ask everything you want to ask. Then come back in a week later to pitch us on your sales strategy in person.
- Follow-up calls with individual team members from different parts of the company.
- Start work!
Compensation at Native is always generous, especially for an early stage start-up. We’re not made of money, but we do want you to know how much you’re appreciated. We don’t publish our compensation figures, but rest assured that it will be above the median for your position.
We also offer some pretty damn cool benefits, even if we do say so ourselves. $1,500 a year towards your next holiday to a continent you’ve never visited before? (Yep, so we’ll all be going to Antarctica within seven years. Better get used to it. And hey, if you’re not sick of us by then, make it a team cruise?) More too: gym benefits, books, cycling incentives. No fixed limit on paid vacation - take all the time you need. Generous parental leave for a start-up. You know. The good stuff.
