POSITION OVERVIEW:

As our Accounting Senior, you will play a critical role in owning capital expenditure and lease accounting primarily for our bakery real estate portfolio, among other responsibilities. This position will help develop and maintain processes and best practices, and ensure financial systems operate efficiently in collecting, analyzing, and reporting information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own capital expenditure and fixed-asset accounting for the bakery portfolio, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and the fixed-assets subledger.

  • Track and report new bakery openings — capitalizing build-out costs and reporting capital spend against budget for each new location.

  • Account for capitalized software and internal capitalized labor, ensuring costs are capitalized and amortized in line with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policy.

  • Manage repairs and maintenance accounting, applying the capitalization policy to distinguish expensed R&M from capital improvements.

  • Manage the lease portfolio and accounting transactions in the lease management system, CoStar.

  • Own lease accounting for bakery locations under Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 842, including right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and related disclosures.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA strongly preferred.

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience — retail/consumer products experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and practical application of technical accounting.

  • Experience working cross-functionally and handling multiple stakeholders and workstreams simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills — the ability to tell a story and not just report out numbers and results.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, with tight timelines, iteration, and results-driven mindset.

  • Experience with Workday ERP and inventory management systems, a plus.

SWEET POSITION PERKS:

  • Rich opportunity to shape the accounting team, set the tone, and drive discipline.

  • Competitive salary + bonus + benefits + equity.

  • A fun, entrepreneurial, and cookie-filled culture.

  • Free cookies, branded swag and so much more!
