Senior Design Specialist

Cooley is seeking a Senior Design Specialist to join the Marketing and Client Development team.

Position summary: The Creative team supports the development and enhancement of the firm’s global visual identity. The role is responsible for leading the execution of high-quality design projects from concept through delivery, ensuring all creative outputs are innovative, user-centered, and aligned with strategic the strategic goals of MCD. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Oversee all design elements on assigned projects and tasks, from conception to final delivery
  • Manage multiple projects with strong organizational rigor, including timelines, asset tracking, and stakeholder reviews
  • Collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders to brainstorm ideas, capture feedback and iterate on designs, as appropriate
  • Participate in design reviews, share feedback, and help set the bar for design quality
  • Maintain and expand existing design systems, including style guides, UI kits, and typography standards, to ensure visual brand consistency across all platforms
  • Ensure all outputs are user-friendly, technically sound, and aligned with the strategic goals of the MCD team
  • Apply current design trends and best practices to deliver modern, innovative solutions
  • Leverage new and creative technologies (e.g., AI, emerging tools) to support design workflows and the firm’s visual identity

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required
  • Ability to travel, as required
  • 4+ years directly applicable experience (e.g., experience in visual branding, design, advertising or any creative marketing)
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit analytical and critical thinking in day-to-day tasks along with the proven ability to operate at an elevated level in terms of scope of responsibility, judgement and autonomy     
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate escalating ownership and mastery of assigned area, exhibit strength in the areas below, become a resource and mentor to others and more as they progress in different roles within the department
  • Working knowledge of UI/UX design, and modular design techniques
  • Proficient in creative technologies (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, HTML/CSS or similar tools) 
  • Proficient in workflow technologies (e.g., Workfront)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior legal industry or professional services experience

Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. EOE.

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $103,000 - $150,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
