About us:

Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing markets, lending and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units, helping them capture opportunities with business customers.

IB&M Finance supports the IB&M business through financial control and reporting, balance sheet substantiation, management information and analysis, and ad hoc requirements that support effective control and decision-making.

Picture yourself in the team:

The New York Finance team is responsible for the financial and regulatory reporting of the Group's New York Branch operation and related Americas legal entities, together with the controls and processes of the wider Finance function.

Reporting is provided to local management, the IB&M Leadership Team, Group Finance and external stakeholders, including regulators.

We are seeking a motivated Senior Finance Analyst to join the New York Finance team in a broad role supporting CBA's Americas businesses. You will play an important role in financial and regulatory reporting for CBA's U.S. broker-dealer and work closely with Global Markets, Capital Markets, Finance and Risk stakeholders across CBA. The role combines financial control and regulatory reporting with analysis, business partnering and a strong focus on simplification and automation. Success requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, initiative and the ability to communicate financial information clearly.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support Finance activities for CBA’s U.S. FINRA-regulated broker-dealer, including financial statements, regulatory reporting, audit support and performance analysis across key products.
  • Prepare accurate and timely regulatory reporting, including data validation, reconciliations and resolution of source-system issues.
  • Partner with Global Markets Product Control to support the accuracy and integrity of New York Global Markets financial reporting.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including journals, invoices, balance sheet substantiation, movement analysis and reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial analysis and commentary for monthly reporting across CBA’s Americas entities, covering balance sheet, revenue, expenses and business performance.
  • Support audit, controls and Finance business partnering, providing documentation, control testing, financial analysis and ad hoc decision support.
  • Drive continuous improvement and Finance transformation through process simplification, automation, data analytics, AI-enabled tools and system/change initiatives.

We are interested in hearing from you if you have:

  • 2+ years’ relevant experience in Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting, Audit/Accounting, Product Control or a comparable Finance role within banking or financial services.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with an understanding of balance sheets, P&L, general ledger processes and financial controls.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience working with large data sets, reconciliations and investigating financial or data variances.
  • Exposure to U.S. or international regulatory reporting and financial markets products such as Fixed Income, Debt Capital Markets, institutional lending or U.S. Private Placements is advantageous.
  • Strong Excel, data and AI literacy, with exposure to tools such as Power BI, Power Query, SQL, VBA or AI-enabled platforms; experience with Murex, WSS or LoanIQ is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and accurately.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the initiative to investigate issues, ask questions and escalate appropriately.
  • Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities and work independently with guidance in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business, finance, mathematics, computer science or technology-related discipline.

The salary range for this role is from $105,000 to $145,000 + variable bonus. The salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
