We are seeking a Senior Presales Systems Engineer to join our Federal Civilian Agency organization. This role is ideal for a customer-facing technical leader who thrives in dynamic environments and can connect mission priorities to practical architecture and solution outcomes.

Serves as a senior technical advisor in complex deal pursuits, bringing deep product and technology expertise to customer engagements and internal account teams.

The Senior Presales Systems Engineer is a subject matter expert in their area of specialization and is responsible for consulting with customers on end-to-end technical designs that align business goals to practical, scalable architectures. This role is highly customer-facing and is focused on selling activities that primarily occur outside HPE offices.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with Account Managers to identify, qualify, and advance opportunities from discovery through close

  • Lead customer discovery and translate business, operational, and technical requirements into solution architectures and roadmaps

  • Design and present solutions spanning wired and wireless campus networking, branch networking, WAN, security, NAC, automation, and cloud-managed operations

  • Build and deliver technical proposals, presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements

  • Articulate HPE Networking differentiation and position solutions effectively against competitive alternatives

  • Engage with internal engineering, product management, services, and partner teams to remove blockers and align solutions to customer outcomes

  • Maintain strong awareness of market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies relevant to cloud-driven customer environments

  • Develop trusted relationships with customer engineers, architects, operations leaders, and decision-makers

  • Support channel and partner engagement where applicable to expand reach and influence within accounts

  • Travel regularly to customer sites, internal meetings, and strategic events

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Significant pre-sales systems engineering, solution consulting, or related customer-facing experience in enterprise or cloud-focused environments

  • Deep experience in campus and branch networking, including wired, wireless, WAN, security, and network access control

  • Strong Juniper Junos and Mist experience is required. API knowledge is preferred. SRX knowledge is highly desirable or knowledge with DMVPN, ADVPN, or GroupVPN.

  • Experience with network access security solutions such as HPE Aruba ClearPass, Juniper Access Assurance, Cisco ISE, or similar platforms

  • Solid working knowledge of data center and WAN technologies; direct hands-on experience in either or both is strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting complex customer environments and translating technical capabilities into mission value

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage from engineer to executive level

  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations primarily throughout the United States
