Clearwater’s LPx platform is looking for a Senior Product Manager to help build front-office and research capabilities for the Private Funds domain — spanning Fund Research (CRM and deal management) and Fund Analytics. This is a delivery-focused role: you will sit close to engineering, own the development backlog, and translate private funds domain knowledge into shippable, well-tested product features.

You will work day-to-day with development teams to groom and prioritize the backlog, act as the domain expert developers rely on, verify that what gets built matches the requirement, and help both prospects and clients understand and adopt what’s been delivered. Product strategy, market positioning, and roadmap ownership sit with the Product Manager — this role is about turning that direction into working software.

Responsibilities:
Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery
  • Own and prioritize the development backlog in Aha!/JIRA for Fund Research and Fund Analytics capabilities.

  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and workflow/business requirements that developers can build directly from.

  • Groom the backlog with engineering, and participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Sequence and re-prioritize work based on dependencies, client commitments, and delivery capacity.

Domain Enablement for Engineering
  • Act as the private funds domain SME for the development team — GP/LP structures, fund hierarchies (master/feeder), capital account and NAV concepts, and front-office workflows such as performance measurement, cash-flow tracking, and portfolio monitoring.

  • Be available through the sprint to answer clarifying questions, review edge cases, and unblock developers on domain nuance.

  • Translate ambiguous business requirements into concrete, testable specifications.

Testing & Quality
  • Test delivered features against acceptance criteria using realistic fund and portfolio data scenarios.

  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT) with internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Identify gaps, edge cases, and data-quality issues before release, and work with engineering to resolve them.

Client Adoption & Enablement
  • Support client onboarding and adoption of newly released Fund Research and Fund Analytics functionality.

  • Train clients and internal teams on new capabilities, and gather feedback to feed back into the backlog.

  • Partner with Client Services and Support to resolve product questions and issues arising from live usage.

Prospect & Market Education
  • Speak with prospects to demonstrate and explain product capabilities in Fund Research and Fund Analytics as part of pre-sales conversations.

  • Support Sales with product walkthroughs, capability Q&A, and positioning relative to competing platforms.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar delivery-focused role within financial technology, ideally supporting private funds or alternative investments.

  • Strong grounding in the private funds domain — fund structures, GP/LP dynamics, capital accounts, NAV, and capital call/distribution mechanics.

  • Front-office familiarity, performance measurement, cash-flow analysis, portfolio monitoring, or fund research/manager due diligence.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile delivery — writing user stories and acceptance criteria, backlog grooming, and running or participating in Agile ceremonies (Aha!, JIRA, or equivalent).

  • Exposure to competing private markets data and analytics platforms, such as Burgiss Private i, MSCI/Caissa, Chronograph, Backstop, or Dynamo Software.

  • Strong communication skills across technical and business audiences — comfortable explaining domain concepts to developers and product capabilities to clients and prospects.

  • A testing/QA mindset, able to verify delivered software against requirements and real-world fund scenarios.

  • Good cross-functional collaboration skills, across Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and Client Services.
