As a Senior Backend Engineer on the team, you'll be a key leader in developing the core mechanisms that drive our financial planning and analysis product, including our query language. You will be responsible for owning and leading backend development, including architecting, maintaining, and evolving our complex, rich metrics mechanism used to create and manage all collected metrics for data analysis. In this role, you will also mentor and guide other backend engineers on the team. You are passionate about software engineering and building a robust, high-performance product end-to-end. You will be responsible for owning the dev cycle from technical design through coding and testing to deployment and monitoring.
Base salary for this role ranges from $170,000 - $230,000 per year.

- 9+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, strongly emphasizing backend development.
- Experience with C#, Java, or Scala development.
- Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of software design and scalable architecture.
- Experience with testing methodologies - unit-testing, TDD, mocking, etc.
- Experience with AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.
- Experience with distributed databases like SingleStore.
- Independent, fast learner, and excited about learning new technologies.
- Proactive team player with a desire to impact our team, our product, and our customers.
The following is a big plus:
- Experience developing a financial planning application / HR related product.
- Experience with data pipelines, PySpark and AWS Glue.
- Technical leadership experience and/or experience mentoring junior developers.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable back-end systems for our Financial Planning product.
- Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to implement new features and ensure alignment with the overall product roadmap.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in C#, Java, or Scala.
- Integrate with external data providers, such as Snowflake, NetSuite, and Stripe
- Build and optimize APIs to support seamless integrations across our platform.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Take ownership of the full development cycle, including technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
