We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

PayPal is seeking a Senior Director, Product Growth to lead end-to-end growth across our U.S. consumer credit portfolio, including PayPal Credit, PayPal Cashback Mastercard, and Venmo Credit Card. This leader will shape and drive a cohesive strategy spanning customer acquisition, activation, engagement, retention, and lifetime value. Working across the PayPal and Venmo ecosystems, the role will bring together product, marketing, pricing, rewards, channel, and lifecycle strategies to unlock new growth opportunities, deepen customer relationships, improve the end-to-end experience, and drive portfolio health and sustainable growth.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue growth and global market expansion by identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, channels, and opportunities
  • Lead the negotiation with external partners and engage cross-functional support colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of solutions for large complex partnerships
  • Develop and execute an overall business strategy to identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, channels, and opportunities to drive revenue growth and global market expansion
  • Influence the negotiation with external partners, engaging cross-functional support colleagues, to ensure successful delivery of solutions for large complex partnerships
  • Align product and business levers (such as pricing and FX) to maximize revenue and market expansion opportunities
  • Engage closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams to drive the architectural runway and determine the best technical implementation/design
  • Represent the end customer on an ongoing basis and use this knowledge to drive effective prioritization and decision-making

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 12+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

Role Scope & Priorities 
  • Shape the vision for growth across the U.S. consumer credit portfolio - PayPal Credit, PayPal Cashback Mastercard, and Venmo Credit Card - leveraging industry best practices, the broader PayPal and Venmo ecosystems, and innovative growth drivers. 
  • Develop and execute an overall business strategy that unifies new-customer acquisition and existing-customer growth across the three products into a cohesive portfolio strategy. 
  • Support acquisition strategy across the portfolio and partner with the US Consumer and Venmo teams to unlock cross-sell and upgrade opportunities, optimize placement and targeting, and expand the addressable customer base. 
  • Partner with Product, Risk, and the issuing bank to improve the application, underwriting, onboarding, and activation experience and improve funnel conversion. 
  • Partner to drive existing-customer growth across early-month-on-book, engagement, reactivation, retention, and win-back, while improving the end-to-end customer experience. 
  • Shape and align growth levers including product roadmap inputs, go-to-market and marketing strategy, pricing and rewards economics, offers and incentives, channel mix, and customer lifecycle management. 
  • Champion the voice of the customer and influence priorities across US Consumer, Venmo, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Risk, Analytics, Finance, Legal and Compliance, as well as issuing bank, network, and merchant partners. 
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, with success measured through portfolio health and product growth, delivered jointly with the US Consumer team and partner functions. 

Experience & Capabilities 

  • Issuer-side credit card experience required, with demonstrated experience currently leading or having previously led a sizable credit card portfolio at a major issuer. 
  • Demonstrated track record driving both new-customer acquisition and existing-customer growth for a consumer credit or card portfolio. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence key portfolio and P&L performance levers, including revenue, costs, credit and fraud losses, pricing, rewards, and lifecycle economics, while operating with an owner mindset. 
  • Strong understanding of consumer credit needs, consumer behavior, and portfolio P&L dynamics. 
  • Experience developing strategy and roadmaps for large-scale products and translating business priorities into measurable execution. 
  • Experience working with issuing bank and network partners in a partnership or co-brand credit model. 
  • Experience leading significant co-brand or portfolio negotiations or renegotiations. 
  • Breadth across risk, fraud, product, and operations 
  • Experience with card processors such as Fiserv and navigating both legacy platforms and modern digital experiences. 
  • Proven ability to lead through complex, highly matrixed organizations and influence cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify gaps and initiate solutions in complex environments. 
  • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting portfolio performance, insights, and recommendations to senior internal and external leaders. 
  • Exceptional people leadership capabilities, with experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

New York City, New York: ($218,000.00 - $323,950.00 Annually)

Additional Location(s) | Pay Range:

Chicago, Illinois: ($198,000.00 - $294,250.00 Annually) Austin, Texas: ($198,000.00 - $294,250.00 Annually) San Jose, California: ($218,000.00 - $323,950.00 Annually) Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
