Job Summary:

Pets Best is seeking a Senior Manager, Finance to lead financial reporting, performance analysis, and business insight across the organization. This role sits directly beneath the Head of Finance and serves as the primary owner of management reporting, unit economics, and analytical support for key business leaders. The Senior Manager will play a critical role in improving the quality, speed, and reliability of financial insights, building scalable reporting processes, and translating complex business questions into actionable analysis. Over time, the role will expand into greater ownership of forecasting and planning as processes mature. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong insurance domain knowledge, analytical depth, and the ability to operate effectively in a growing environment.

Job Location: New York, NY - Hybrid

Main Responsibilities:     

Reporting, Analytics & Business Insight

  • Own core management reporting and performance analytics across products, channels, and cohorts
  • Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and profitability views used by senior leadership
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on drivers of growth, loss performance, expenses, and margins
  • Translate evolving business questions into structured, decision-ready financial insights
  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities

Process Improvement & Scalability

  • Design and improve scalable reporting and analytical processes
  • Reduce manual effort and rework through improved data structures, automation, and standardization
  • Support broader finance transformation initiatives, including improved data flows between source systems, FP&A, and accounting

Team Leadership & Review

  • Lead FP&A manager(s) and serve as escalation point for complex analysis
  • Review and sense-check key deliverables prior to executive distribution
  • Coach team members to strengthen analytical skills and business judgment

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 8–12+ years of experience in FP&A, analytics, or finance in insurance and/or MGA industry
  • Strong understanding of insurance economics and performance drivers
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to build scalable reporting and analytical processes
  • Strong business judgment and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting pricing, partnerships, or growth initiatives
  • Exposure to finance transformation or data modernization efforts
  • Familiarity with modern BI tools, planning systems, and data environments
