Staff Psychologist, Neurodivergence Specialist (81092)

The Iona University Counseling Center seeks a Staff Psychologist, Neurodivergence Specialist to join its close-knit and experienced clinical team. This position combines direct clinical care with program development, psychoeducation, consultation, training, and community building focused on supporting neurodivergent college students.

The Specialist is a core member of the Counseling Center and reports to the Executive Director. The position offers an opportunity to develop specialized expertise while helping shape and expand neurodivergence-focused services at Iona.

Clinical Services

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy to neurodivergent and other assigned student clients.

• Provide walk-in, triage, crisis intervention, emergency evaluation, risk assessment, consultation, and referral services.

• Participate in the Counseling Center's on-call rotation and provide crisis consultation as assigned.

• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.

Neurodivergence Programming and Student Engagement

• Lead and further develop Gael Chat Social Communication, including curriculum development, program delivery, management, and evaluation.

• Develop and deliver psychoeducational groups, workshops, and community-building programs for neurodivergent students.

• Serve as an advisor to the University's Neurodiversity Club.

• Create psychoeducational materials and collaborate with students and campus partners to identify emerging needs and develop responsive programming.

Training, Consultation, and Supervision

• Provide neurodivergence-focused training, workshops, seminars, and case consultation to Counseling Center colleagues and campus partners.

• Consult with faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders regarding student mental health and neurodivergence.

• Provide clinical supervision to graduate externs and fellows, as assigned.

Professional and University Responsibilities

• Contribute to Counseling Center operations, policies, reports, and initiatives.

• Participate in relevant University and Division of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs meetings and events.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

This is an onsite position with a general business hours schedule, with participation in a scheduled rotation of limited remote hours. The Counseling Center is closed on university holidays. As an exempt role, it is expected that the Specialist will remain present outside normal business hours occasionally, for crisis intervention and required campus events, and that they participate by phone in the on-call rotation.

The successful candidate will:

• Hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA-accredited program.

• Be licensed in New York State as a clinical, counseling, or school psychologist.

• Have demonstrated experience providing psychotherapy to neurodivergent individuals, including individuals on the autism spectrum.

• Have experience addressing anxiety, attention, and executive functioning concerns.

• Demonstrate established clinical skills in CBT, DBT, ACT, and/or other evidence-based approaches relevant to this population.

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, consultation, and collaboration skills.

• Be comfortable working collaboratively with students, colleagues, faculty, staff, and administrators.

• Bring curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm to clinical practice and program development.

• Practice ethically and in accordance with the highest professional standards at all times.
