About the Role

 

The Strategy & Planning Lead will serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to Global Marketing leadership, driving high-impact initiatives that accelerate growth, improve operational effectiveness, and maximize the return on marketing investments. This role sits at the intersection of corporate strategy, marketing, operations, analytics, and executive communications.

 

As a trusted partner to senior leaders, you will oversee strategic planning, investment prioritization, organizational effectiveness, and executive engagement across the marketing organization. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to drive greater impact with existing resources, solving complex business challenges, and translating insights into actionable recommendations that influence company and marketing strategy.

 

The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, thrives in ambiguity, and brings deep experience in strategy, marketing, business operations, and executive stakeholder management. They are equally comfortable conducting rigorous analysis, developing executive-level narratives, leading cross-functional initiatives, and influencing senior leaders.

 

What You'll Do

Strategic Planning & Investment Management

  • Drive annual and quarterly strategic planning processes across Global Marketing, partnering with leadership to define priorities, roadmap, investment allocations, and success metrics.
  • Develop business cases and investment scenarios to optimize marketing resource allocation and maximize growth impact.
  • Evaluate portfolio and market opportunities, recommending strategic shifts based on business performance, market dynamics, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with Finance and Marketing leadership to establish planning frameworks that balance growth ambitions with operational discipline.

 

Growth Strategy & Business Performance

  • Analyze marketing performance, business trends, customer insights, and market opportunities to identify growth levers and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop executive-ready analyses and recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness, ROI, and organizational efficiency.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities to proactively identify risks and areas for investment.
  • Build frameworks that enable the organization to do more with less through prioritization, resource optimization, and scalable operating models.

 

Executive Communications & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Own executive engagement strategies and partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop clear, compelling narratives around marketing strategy and business priorities.
  • Lead development of executive presentations, leadership reviews, board-level materials, strategic memos, and organizational communications.
  • Translate complex analyses into concise recommendations that influence decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Marketing leadership and cross-functional partners across the business.

 

Strategic Initiatives 

  • Lead complex cross-functional projects that advance marketing and business priorities, from problem definition through implementation and impact measurement.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Data Science, Finance, Product, Regional teams, and other stakeholders to solve critical business challenges.
  • Establish operating mechanisms, governance processes, and performance management frameworks that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Drive initiatives that increase operational rigor, simplify decision-making, and improve execution across the marketing organization.

 

Leadership Partnership

  • Act as a strategic thought partner and advisor to Marketing leadership on key business decisions, organizational priorities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Identify and advocate for high-priority initiatives that support both marketing objectives and broader company growth goals.
  • Support leadership in navigating ambiguity, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution against strategic objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Strategy, Marketing Strategy, Business Operations, Management Consulting, Corporate Strategy, or related functions.
  • Experience supporting senior executives or marketing organizations in a Strategy & Operations, Chief of Staff, or equivalent strategic leadership capacity.
  • Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving skills with experience synthesizing large, complex datasets into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including extensive experience developing executive-level communications and presentations.
  • Demonstrated track record leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced and highly ambiguous environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influence skills across multiple organizational levels.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within high-growth technology, marketplace, consumer, or digital marketing organizations.
  • Deep understanding of marketing strategy, growth levers, customer acquisition, brand investment, and performance measurement.
  • Experience leading annual planning, investment allocation, and organizational transformation efforts.
  • Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Data Science, Operations, and Product teams to solve strategic business challenges.
Responsibilities

For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $209,000 per year - USD $232,000 per year.

You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
