Strategy & Operations Manager, TalentAbout Duet

Duet is proving that nurse-practitioner-led care isn't just more accessible, it's better. We help NPs build and scale independent practices in communities too often overlooked by the health system: rural towns, immigrant populations, LGBTQ+ patients, and more. Backed by AI-driven tools that give independent NPs the backing of a much bigger system, our network of 100+ practices covering 400,000 annual visits has driven a 30% increase in preventative visits and a 35% drop in hospitalizations, the clearest sign yet that localized NP-led care means better outcomes.

We're a well-funded, early-stage company led by seasoned entrepreneurs and nurse practitioners, and backed by investors including Lerer Hippeau and Kairos.

Why Duet, Why Now

Independent primary care is disappearing, swallowed by hospital systems and private equity roll-ups, often pulling out of the communities that need it most. But 31 states now support autonomous NP practice, and the results back up what we've long believed. We built the first value-based care contracts for NPs with major payors, taking on real financial risk for outcomes. In our anchor market in New Hampshire, our network outperformed the state on total cost of care by 19%, proof that a solo NP in an underserved area can outperform a system ten times their size and get rewarded for it.

About the role

We’re looking for a strategy and operations generalist to build the hiring system that will help this company scale. You’ll partner closely with senior leaders to take fuzzy hiring needs and turn them into well-defined roles, structured interview processes, and fast, dependable decisions.

Hiring is among the highest-leverage systems at the company, and you’ll own it from start to finish. At first, you’ll be hands-on and scrappy: sourcing candidates yourself, running initial screens, coordinating interviews, and keeping decisions moving. Alongside that, you’ll build the processes, standards, and systems that make hiring repeatable as we grow.

If you love finding and attracting great talent, reasoning from first principles, and building lasting systems from the ground up in an early-stage environment, this role was made for you.

You Will

  • Own the hiring engine: Run the full hiring lifecycle, from role kickoff to signed offer, keeping every step fast, clear, and high-quality while creating a process that is repeatable and built to scale.

  • Shape the roles: Partner with senior leadership to sharpen each role’s scope, responsibilities, and success criteria, flag decisions that haven’t been made yet, and establish a consistent approach to how roles are shaped across the company.

  • Craft the interview process: Turn role definitions into structured interview plans, deciding the best way to get a real read on each trait you’re hiring for.

  • Be the company’s top talent recruiter: Proactively seek out exceptional candidates, getting scrappy and creative when standard channels fall short. Leave strong candidates excited to join, hold the bar high, and set the tone for the entire candidate experience.

  • Hold the line on quality: Lead early screening conversations to quickly rule out mismatches and surface genuine signal, and keep the talent bar consistently upheld throughout each search.

  • Keep hiring moving: Schedule interviews, run prompt debriefs, and drive fast decisions, backed by clear documentation and reliable follow-through.

  • Find and fix bottlenecks: Routinely review funnels for each role to spot where time or signal is getting lost, then make targeted changes that improve both hiring speed and outcomes.

About You

  • ~2–5+ years of experience in consulting or operating roles at high-growth companies

  • Strong first-principles thinking and the confidence to design systems from scratch and push back on hiring managers and the CEO on role scope, quality, and process

  • You find a way to deliver results by being scrappy, creative, and making things happen

  • High EQ: You build genuine rapport with people and serve as a credible representative of the company

  • Highly organized and operationally rigorous, able to own systems and processes end to end, keep things clean, and spot breakdowns before they slow hiring

  • Ambitious and growth-oriented, with a desire for high ownership

The salary range for this role is $140,000-$160,000 plus bonus and equity. This role is hybrid in NYC.
