Nuveen is seeking an experienced business development professional to drive new client acquisition and retention among insurance companies with balance sheets of $2 billion and below. In this role, you'll engage senior stakeholders at target insurance companies and act as a consultative partner, bringing the full breadth of Nuveen's investment capabilities to the table, including public and private fixed income, public and private equity, real estate, and real assets. You'll own the relationship from first conversation through onboarding and beyond, serving as the ongoing point of contact as clients grow with the firm. This role requires approximately 50% travel.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead a consultative, top-down distribution approach tailored to U.S. insurers, drawing on expertise from across Nuveen's investment platform
- Position Nuveen as a holistic partner rather than a single-product provider, tailoring the pitch to each stakeholder's priorities
- Translate complex insurance investment structures, regulatory considerations, and capital treatment into clear, actionable guidance for clients
- Bring deep fixed income expertise to every client conversation
- Partner closely with portfolio managers and insurance distribution colleagues across the U.S. and globally to deliver a coordinated client experience
- Guide new clients through onboarding to ensure a smooth start to the relationship
- Anticipate client needs and engage proactively to consistently exceed service expectations

- 5+ years of experience in insurance investment management, business development, or as an insurance company asset owner
- A track record of building relationships, developing a strong pipeline, and closing new business
- Working knowledge of Nuveen's products, services, and capital markets capabilities — or the ability to build this knowledge quickly
- Bachelor's degree
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Travel : Approximately 50%
Preferred Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in insurance investment management, business development, or as an insurance company asset owner
- Demonstrated success distributing fixed income to insurance companies
- MBA and/or CFA designation
Anticipated Posting End Date:
2026-09-14Base Pay Range: $144,000/yr - $193,000/yrActual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
