Title and Summary
Vice President, Product Management - Open Finance Strategy
The Global Open Finance and Developer Experience team is responsible for developing and building the future of open finance and a developer-first approach that propels innovation with fintech and other partners, in support of realizing Mastercard's multi-rail potential.
The VP, Open Finance Strategy will be responsible for owning and driving Mastercard's Open Finance strategy end-to-end. The primary objective is to rapidly scale Open Finance revenue, deepen ecosystem partnerships, and create a sustained competitive advantage through strategic positioning and execution excellence. A critical component of this role is to define the strategic vision for how Open Finance capabilities are brought to market - ensuring our portfolio is comprehensive, best-in-class, and positioned to capture future growth opportunities across key geographies and verticals.
Success in this role will be driven by ensuring that all relevant Mastercard Open Finance products are strategically coherent, clearly differentiated in the market, and supported by the right go-to-market approach to drive adoption and scale. You will be responsible for developing a clear, forward-looking strategic path to position our Open Finance ecosystem at the forefront of technological innovation - specifically preparing it for advancements in Generative AI and Agentic Commerce.
ROLE
The VP will have a proven track record of working effectively in a team to drive to successful outcomes, exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills. More specifically, the candidate will work to:• Drive high-impact Open Finance strategic initiatives from conceptualization and problem structuring through to delivering actionable recommendations based on rigorous analysis and research.• Develop and articulate compelling strategic narratives for Open Finance, crafting impactful presentations and memos to inform and influence senior executives across Mastercard.• Proactively identify and analyze critical industry shifts and competitive dynamics - including in A2A payments, data sharing regulation, and embedded finance - translating insights into strategic implications and opportunities for Mastercard's Open Finance division.• Partner with and advise product owners across the business, guiding strategic insight generation, robust business case development, and the identification of new growth avenues to accelerate their objectives.• Originate and champion innovative growth strategies for Open Finance, leveraging deep market understanding and competitive intelligence to define new pathways for expansion across key geographies and verticals.• Provide strategic oversight for key operational functions, including quarterly business reviews, KPI framework development, planning processes, and proactive risk management.• Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of high performance, strategic thinking, and continuous learning within the team.
ALL ABOUT YOU• Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or advanced degree from a top-tier program preferred.• Deep knowledge of Open Finance, open banking, and/or financial services required; familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., PSD2, CDR, Section 1033) strongly preferred.• Significant professional experience across strategy consulting and/or internal strategy roles, with proven project or workstream leadership experience.• Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills and business acumen; seasoned in identifying the most critical aspects of a problem and handling ambiguity.• Demonstrated ability to lead company-wide, complex projects from start to finish, effectively driving forward project plans and leveraging stakeholder management and influencing skills.• Experience managing a team, and influencing teammates towards an objective.• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop high-quality presentations and memos independently.• Ability to structure ambiguous problems and break down complex asks into tangible steps.• Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.• Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects to deliver optimal outcomes.• Strong collaborator and listener; able to navigate a matrixed organization and reporting structure with ease.• Strong aptitude for modeling and applying quantitative analytical approaches.

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.

Purchase, New York: $235,000 - $375,000 USD
