Job Overview:

The VP, Enterprise Market Data Management (EMDM) will lead LPL’s enterprise-wide market data function and serve as the firm’s senior strategic advisor for third-party market data. This leader will establish and execute the enterprise strategy and operating model for governance, licensing, entitlements, vendor and commercial management, demand and expense management, inventory, lineage, risk remediation, and operational oversight. The role will partner across Product, Technology, Data, Finance, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Trading, Research, Investment Management, and other business functions to ensure market data supports business objectives and is used in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute a multi-year enterprise market data strategy aligned to business, product, technology, financial, and growth objectives.

  • Lead and mature the Enterprise Market Data Management operating model, including governance, service delivery, intake processes, decision rights, performance metrics, and escalation frameworks.

  • Establish and maintain controls for market data intake, ownership, licensing, entitlements, access, usage, redistribution, documentation, and retirement.

  • Serve as the senior relationship owner for strategic market data providers and support enterprise agreements, renewals, sourcing strategies, pricing discussions, audits, and commercial negotiations.

  • Develop reporting and oversight for market data spend, contracts, renewals, invoices, allocations, savings opportunities, and financial exposure.

  • Maintain enterprise visibility into market data inventory, lineage, metadata, consumption patterns, contracts, applications, users, and downstream dependencies.

  • Partner with Technology and business stakeholders to support operational resiliency, entitlement administration, vendor issue resolution, and critical data delivery services.

  • Ensure Enterprise Market Data Management engagement in new products, acquisitions, integrations, artificial intelligence initiatives, third-party arrangements, and distribution models involving market data.

  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team with clear accountability, succession planning, and ownership across providers, services, and portfolios.

We are seeking a senior enterprise leader who can operate at the intersection of market data, business strategy, commercial management, governance, risk, technology, and operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to create structure in complex environments, influence decisions across organizational boundaries, and translate market data concepts into practical business outcomes. Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in market data, financial information services, data products, product management, vendor management, commercial management, data governance, sourcing, financial services technology, or related leadership roles.

  • Experience leading an enterprise function, operating model, product portfolio, shared service, or transformation with responsibility for strategy, governance, execution, and measurable outcomes.

  • Knowledge of the market data ecosystem, including exchanges, index providers, ratings providers, pricing and reference data, terminals, feeds, APIs, files, derived data, entitlements, redistribution, non-display usage, and licensing agreements.

  • Experience leading strategic provider relationships, enterprise negotiations, renewals, sourcing decisions, audits, or remediation activities.

  • Experience managing financial processes including spend management, forecasting, demand management, cost allocation, and value realization.

  • Enterprise Strategy to Execution: Ability to translate enterprise objectives into a practical market data strategy, roadmaps, governance routines, commercial priorities, controls, and measurable outcomes.

  • Market Data Domain Leadership: Deep understanding of providers, products, exchanges, indices, ratings, licensing models, entitlements, data delivery, redistribution, and consumption patterns relevant to enterprise decisions.

  • Commercial and Financial Judgment: Ability to connect validated demand and usage to sourcing, negotiation, spend optimization, forecasts, funding decisions, and defensible business value.

  • Governance and Risk Management: Ability to establish preventive controls, decision rights, escalation paths, audit readiness, and accountable remediation across a complex and regulated ecosystem.

  • Technology and Data Fluency: Ability to understand data flows, applications, lineage, cloud delivery, resiliency, and consumption monitoring well enough to guide decisions and cross-functional partnerships.

Preferences:

  • Proven ability to influence and communicate with executives across Product, Technology, Data, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Operations.

  • Experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience within a broker-dealer, wealth management firm, investment manager, exchange, market data provider, financial data platform, or similarly regulated financial institution.

  • Direct experience with major market data providers including LSEG, FactSet, Morningstar, Bloomberg, exchanges, index licensors, ratings agencies, and financial information platforms.

  • Experience with market data inventory, entitlement, contract management, terminal management, lineage, metadata, catalog, data discovery, or spend management capabilities.

Pay Range:

$149,556.00 - $249,260.00
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
