Overview
Join our dynamic plaintiff personal injury legal team as a Worker’s Compensation Paralegal. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing a high-volume caseload on the claimant side and is comfortable working directly with clients, carriers, medical providers, and the Workers' Compensation Board. This position will be based in our Midtown Manhattan office 5x per week.
You Will:
- Manage a full caseload of workers' compensation matters from intake through resolution
- Conduct initial client intakes and gather relevant documentation
- Communicate with clients on a regular basis— this is the core of the role
- Draft and send HIPAA authorizations and follow up with medical providers to obtain records
- Prepare correspondence, settlement documents, Section 32 agreements, and hearing requests
- File requests for hearings and monitor case status through the WCB eCase system
- Communicate with insurance adjusters, employers, treating physicians, and defense counsel
- Send IME notices and coordinate deposition scheduling
- Maintain the firm calendar, track deadlines, hearings, and appearances
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date case notes and file documentation in the firm's case management system
- Conduct client communications in both English and Spanish
You Have:
- 2+ years of experience handling workers' compensation cases in New York
- Familiarity with WCB procedures, eCase, and New York workers' compensation filings
- Strong client communication skills — written and verbal — in both English and Spanish
- Proficiency with legal case management software
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
