This week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that music streaming giant Spotify will be expanding its footprint in New York City and moving into Four World Trade Center.

Though the nine-year-old company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, it’s quickly grown its U.S. headquarters in New York City throughout recent years, and is now set to create 1,000 new jobs following the move.

“Lower Manhattan is more vibrant, diverse, and connected than ever before, and Spotify’s expansion is the latest example of this community’s incredible potential for growth,” Governor Cuomo said in a statement. “New York is rapidly emerging as the nation’s leading hub for tech and innovation, creating more jobs and more opportunities and emerging as the epicenter of the 21st economy. We are proud to welcome Spotify to 4 World Trade Center and to have the future of music be a part of the bright future of our dynamic tech community.”

The company will occupy 378,000 square feet in the Fumihiko Maki-designed building in the Financial District, and in an effort to encourage Spotify to expand its operations in New York, Empire State Development will provide the company with up to $11 million in World Trade Center Rent Reduction Program rent credits.

In the new space, Spotify will primarily hire across its engineering and product, label and artist relations, editorial, shows, original content, marketing, legal, sales and finance teams. The move is expected to be completed by 2018.

“We appreciate the help of Governor Cuomo and New York State in continuing to grow our team and home in New York City,” said Horacio Gutierrez, General Counsel to Spotify, in a statement. “New York gives us access to the most diverse talent market in the world and we’re incredibly excited to build out our new space at 4 WTC.”

The announcement is the latest in a string of moves from well-established tech companies to set up shop in New York City. In August, Los Angeles-based Snapchat expanded to New York City, creating 400 new jobs in tow.
