Empire & Co. is seeking an Account Manager to join our growing NYC team. The function of this position is to manage client relationships and expectations, provide quality-based products, and deliver knowledge-based solutions. This position is responsible for supporting account growth, increasing market share and profitability, and cultivating client trust through consistent account oversight and exceptional service.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales:
- Update clients on new product offerings, services, and relevant market trends.
- Exercise value engineering and solutions-based thinking when working with clients.
- Partner with the Marketing Department to provide updated materials, product information, and company resources to clients.
- Identify opportunities for ancillary products, additional services, and account growth.
- Provide prompt and courteous responses to client inquiries, needs, and requests.
- Be available as needed for client meetings, site visits, and other necessary communications.
- Share the Empire & Co. story and promote the depth and breadth of the company's resources, products, services, and capabilities.
- Promote Empire & Co.'s knowledge and expertise while identifying solutions that meet client needs.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to provide additional support and solutions.
- Maintain an understanding of competitors and market conditions to support effective product positioning.
- Negotiate with vendors for additional discounting when appropriate to support profitability.
- Develop and maintain strategic client and industry relationships.
- Carry out forecasting and strategic account planning.
- Be available and willing to attend on-site meetings and field measure spaces as needed.
Sales Process:
- Act as the liaison throughout the sales process by facilitating and managing all steps from initial opportunity through project completion.
- Coordinate necessary actions and deliverables with Account Coordinators, Project Managers, Design, Operations, vendors, and other internal partners.
- Oversee project activity to ensure client expectations, timelines, and deliverables are effectively managed.
- Maintain communication with clients throughout the sales and project lifecycle and provide timely updates as needed.
- Proactively identify and assist in resolving issues, discrepancies, or changes that may impact the client or project.
- Monitor applicable reports, including waiting, unbilled, aging, and other account-related reports.
- Maintain client relationships following project completion to support satisfaction and future business opportunities.
- Mentor Junior Account Managers, if applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years in the furniture industry; experience working at a dealership preferred.
- Salary range: $65,000 - $90,000 based on experience
- Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, CAD, or construction drawings.
- CAD experience / CET experience.
- Knowledge of Steelcase furniture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Experience using Hedberg to generate quotes.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Well-spoken and able to convey ideas, thoughts, and information effectively.
- Highly motivated, persistent, and a skilled negotiator.
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with little to no direction.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Ability to take on and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
