Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an entrepreneurial and highly collaborative Director of Urban Infrastructure & Development

to strengthen and expand its architectural practice in the New York region, connecting architecture, urban design, master planning, transportation, resilience, and infrastructure into a cohesive, place-led approach to city building. The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing these capabilities together into a cohesive client offering that positions Arcadis as a strategic partner in shaping complex urban environments.

The Director will play a critical role in positioning Arcadis early in the project lifecycle by leading visioning, master planning, placemaking, and concept design efforts that help clients define priorities, build stakeholder support, and create pathways to future infrastructure and development programs.

Working across sectors and disciplines, this leader will help expand Arcadis' market presence and unlock new opportunities throughout the New York metropolitan region and broader Northeast market.

Role accountabilities:

Client Development, Business Leadership & Strategic Growth

•  Build strategic client and stakeholder relationships. 
• Lead pursuits, business development, and market growth initiatives. 
• Expand Arcadis' presence in urban projects, master planning, and place-based development. 
• Align growth strategies across practices, sectors, and regions. 
• Represent Arcadis through industry engagement and thought leadership.

Practice & Design Leadership

• Lead and grow a multidisciplinary Urban Projects practice.
• Provide strategic leadership for visioning, master planning, urban design, and city-building initiatives.
• Champion design excellence, innovation, and place-based thinking.
• Provide design oversight and quality leadership on priority projects.

Collaboration & Integration

• Connect expertise across architecture, transportation, resilience, environmental, planning, and engineering teams.
• Foster multidisciplinary collaboration to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Strengthen innovation, knowledge sharing, and delivery excellence across teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Urban Design
• 15+ years of experience leading urban design, planning, architecture, transportation, or related initiatives.
• Demonstrated success developing client relationships and winning complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong understanding of urban infrastructure, transportation, resilience, and city-building initiatives.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Existing relationships within the New York metropolitan market

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP,  401K, STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program and optional benefits including wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement.  We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $147,000 - $220,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
